Fictional story: On August 29th, 1988, Barney and the Backyard Gang was released on tape. At 6:00pm that evening someone was playing Frogger on their Atari 800. As they were beginning the game, the game froze. Supposedly, an "experimental error" was created by the staff of the show, and spread to Atari 8-bit family computers and consoles. What happened next was anyone's guess...

107. Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use41
Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phone records or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright.
