I've been having some bedtime issues with my parakeet lately. I think it has to do with the days being longer in summer. I leave the curtains and cage doors open. Lights off. Sure enough between 8:30 or 9 pm as the sun goes down he gets in the cage on his own. Then I close the cage doors, cover the cage and he is good for the next 11-12 hours.
