Lucky you. Reminds me of my own layout that I had when I was a young boy. Spent many hours playing with my train and adding accessories.

Fantastic discovery and definitely going to be very exciting once you get it all restored. Congratulations! I can’t wait to start my new American Flyer layout.😊

You can make small holes in the road bed for the spring contacts and carve out some rubber in front of the last tie and they will fit nicely. That is what I did and rolling stock will not dislodge them if they bump them as long as they aren't hit at high speeds. Hope it helps.

man, that's awesome! American Flyer is my favorite of the smaller scale post-war manufacturers. I have a few things in this scale/gauge, and I need to set up a layout sometime.

Really nice job, Marty's trains has really good track cleaning fluid. Scotch rites work good for rusty track also. Those look like Rocket engines.
@myjunkisstuffgarage9672 жыл бұрын
Thank You! Yes, those are the 1954 version of the Rocket engine's and passenger cars, Satin Silver. For sure the Scotchbrites are fabulous for cleaning track.

Nice job. Recently I met a guy who had a couple of those checkered water towers for sale; wanted $80 apiece!

I love the AF PA units. I had the Silver Streak set plus extra cars. We had a 10 x 10 board. Fit lots of goodies on it. Looks great, have fun!

Very cool! I bet you had a great time with your layout! Some day I hope to add some more Alco's, they are neat locos!

My first train set when I was eight was the Tyco HO silver streak set and that was when the bug bit me

Coming along nicely. I use a small amount of engine lube oil on a soft cloth to disolve rust on black parts. Rub lightly so the rust that comes free doesn't scratch through the black coating
@myjunkisstuffgarage9672 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'll give that a try as well. On some track I forgot to polish up the tie tops before I put them back in the roadbed lol You know how it is :)

That is very nice. Could you tell me how you got your tracks so sparkling clean
@myjunkisstuffgarage96711 ай бұрын
I used a green scotchbite pad on the rails, then wiped them down with alcohol on a rag. The track was more dirty grungy than rusty so that probably helped it clean up easily. The roadbed I removed and soaked and then scrubbed with easyoff and then cleaned with dish soap, that was a bit more work honestly.

seeing American Flyer run especially the steam with that distinct sound they make it's easy to see the great debate.. Flyer vs Lionel..
@myjunkisstuffgarage9672 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! Yes, I love both Lionel and American Flyer but you almost have to give the victory to Flyer for the smoke and chug they created. Both effects far outshined Lionel in the Postwar period. Did you know that MTH even copied the American Flyer smoke unit design with the piston chugger for the first couple of Railking locomotives they designed?
@Mercatoyd2 жыл бұрын
@@myjunkisstuffgarage967 I did not know that.. that is very interesting. Not sure what is going to happen now in the "O" gauge arena now that MTH is no longer.. I did see some soaring prices in the Lionel 2023 catalogue...ouch!!!

Nice layout, but you're moving the camera way too fast. I`m unable to zero in on a picture. What are the detentions of your table?
@myjunkisstuffgarage9672 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I realized I was moving it around and bouncing too much as well. I will be putting up another update in a day or so and will try and keep it level and in frame. Thanks for watching!

I see you did not comment on the dimensions of that table, that would be great information since that was factory made.

Almost all AF trains are run at a scale 100 mph. Why is that?
@myjunkisstuffgarage9672 жыл бұрын
I have no idea, I just run em a speed I like although I do understand some like to see them run slower. As I go I will attempt to include some slower shots! Thanks for watching!
