He should restore it…… all these people say. Absolutely not…… why? I’ve been going to car shows for years and these kinds of cars are WAY cooler to look at. Cars like these draw more crowds to look at them and why? Patina takes time to take in and observe. There is so much more to see. It’s why we will never restore our 64 Polara. Drive it like it is…. wipe the bugs off it…. no worries. Awesome video! Thank you for posting.

Well, unlike the Challenger T/A, which had a big "Six Pak"(not sure how it's spelled) decal on both front fenders, the AAR's only had the "Six Barrel" decal on the air cleaner lid to announce the carburetion. As I wrote in other comments, this particular AAR has lost its air cleaner base(at least, maybe the whole assembly) at some point, and someone has substituted another tri-power base plate from another model B or E body.
@stevevice98633 жыл бұрын
Looks like a great candidate for a restoration. I hope he returns it to stock form. AAR's were not designed to be drag racers, they were road racers. It would also be worth much more in original factory form. That green is one of my favorite Mopar colors. We had a Chrysler Newport that was the same color....it would really pop in the sunlight when it was polished up.

All it took was one burn with her wearing shorts and she would suggest if you ever wanted anything ever again then next time you picked her up it would be thrushes and straight pipes!! Damn it!!! Awesome! The deal was sealed for me when I saw the rear mount for the antenna. I never could figure out how a fiberglass hood could cause interference with the radio and the metal hood, didn't?
@joshschneider97663 жыл бұрын
the metal hood acted as a resonator which probably improved signal reception. the fiberglass scatters and diffuses them. or so im guessing anyways
@Pedroisanickname3 жыл бұрын
The base of the antenna must be grounded to metal body parts to work proper.
@radiorick49753 жыл бұрын
The metal Hood helped Shield the ignition system into the compartment of the engine. Corvettes were very well-known for ignition and alternator whine in audio system. Rear antenna looks so much better.

IIRC, Corvettes used to have a metal shield covering the distributor cap and spark plug wires, probably for that exact reason.

I tried ordering that color in 1970, but they didn't have one in that color with the options I wanted. The best thing about AAR/TA cars was that it was a well thought out PACKAGE, and a few additional options like the fast-ratio power stg. Somebody must have stolen this guy's original air cleaner.
@Mercmad3 жыл бұрын
That is the original 6Bbl Aircleaner .
@budlanctot30603 жыл бұрын
@@Mercmad100% wrong. That air cleaner base is NOT AAR/TA. AAR/TA air cleaner base is fairly flat, rectangular with rounded corners, and a big rubber "donut" gasket along the periphery to seal to the underside of the fiberglas hood. It also has a removable plate at rear, vertical wall of the base for use in rainy conditions. I guess you're expected to supply something to block off the scoop. The base also has drain elbows to funnel rain water away from the engine.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.
