What a great bloke Jerry was, my favourite story about him was the time he turned up in some village pub and asked the landlord if he could watch the telly as there was a rugby match on. The landlord said sure but told him the telly was only a portable one, "hang on" said Jerry and walked across to the supermarket and came back with a big flat screen telly, "there you go mate, plug that one in" said Jerry. He was loved everywhere he went.

Love this story about our Jerry.. Thank you for sharing it.. I can't help wiping my tears remembering the many great things he did for small communities around the world when he just rocked up and asked to play. From his humble hometown of Porirua Wellington NZ, where the Northern United Rugby Club is based, we will always remember this great hero of the game. He continues to inspire us..

Everything I hear about Jerry is positive. A formidable world class flanker, one of the toughest men to ever play the game, but a genuinely humble and lovely guy off the pitch.

Barnstaple is not a top flight rugby club like Bath or Saracens, but JC was happy to hang out with them.

Such a shame that a supposedly local journalist doesn't know how to pronounce Barum. Otherwise a great story about a great player and a great club
