Here we see the Baroque repertoire of some important pianists born in the 19th century. It would not be right to refer to a few pianists here as "romantic", but my main intention here is to emphasize that they were born in the Romantic era. I didn't include Bach because historical pianists often played Bach. But here are composers that historical pianists played less frequently, I wanted to compile these rare records.
Baroque period composers included in the video: Henry Purcell, George Frideric Handel, Jean-Philippe Rameau, François Couperin, Louis-Claude Daquin, Domenico Scarlatti, Antonio Vivaldi, Orlando Gibbons, Carl Heinrich Graun.

To say that, Ozan is a genius for compiling all of this seeming out of reach historical stuff. Is putting it mildly.

It's such a shame how Baroque music is barely performed on the piano. A ridiculous amount of the best written keyboard music stems from the Baroque era

Fascinating.Many of the pianists sound as if they've practised on harpsichords. There's a lot of harpsichord style and sound here. Thankyou to the uploader for a very unusual programme indeed.

Another great idea for a video, one that is again beautifully realized. And another opportunity to offer sincere thanks to its creator. :-) I'll just mention that one of the pianists you feature, Marcelle Meyer, recorded quite a bit of Baroque music, and that her recordings of this music are wonderful. Anyone not yet familiar with her performances can find them on KZbin.

Definitely, anyone who likes Baroque interpretations in the video should listen to Meyer. I think Meyer has the largest Baroque repertoire among pianists born in the 19th century. Her Rameau, Couperin, Bach, Scarlatti interpretations are beautiful!

Thank you Mr. Guvener. Thank you. What do we suddely hear ... ? Baroque music ??? What is this strange name ? Out of which world is coming this weird denomination ? Just like a ghetto. I shall say it very clearly. Calling some music "baroque" is saying this : "forbidden to play this music with emotion". Remembering the nazi time in public gardens : "Juden hier unerwünscht" (not for jews) What a pity, what a sorrow ..... But here, in your wonderful compilation, free pianists playing beautiful music, with their hearts, intelligence, rubatos, delicacy, flowers out of their fingers .... What a blessing. I forget my time, which I hate with utter passion. This deadly time where you must play "baroque" music as it would have been written by some robots. Goodbye 2023, decadence and stupidity, and return to the golden Era ....

Excellent idea! Any chance of adding something from Youra Guller? The Bach/Liszt organ works she recorded would probably be too long, unfortunately. But there are some shorter Baroque pieces from Nimbus. Also Alexander Jocheles - Bach BWV997 Prelude, for instance..
@OzanFabienGuvener
@OzanFabienGuvener Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I did not include Bach in this video. Back then, Bach was still played, but other Baroque composers were rarely played, so I wanted to compile them. I'm thinking of a separate video for Bach. Youra Guller's Couperin "La Fleuire ou la Tendré Nanette" recording was included in the first version of the video. But I had to remove some recordings because the video was blocked due to copyright. That's why I took out some records and published them like that. In the first version of the video, there would be Baroque recordings of pianists such as Mark Hambourg.

I thought of putting this record on, but the Godowksy adaptation is unfortunately far from the baroque spirit of the work. It contains a lot of Godowsky's modern passages. And I thought it would be outside of the video's concept for that reason.
