Brothers I really enjoyed this video on basic communications when things aren't going according to SOP or Poop hits the fan. I taught my wife and 2 grown daughters how to Shoot, Scoot, and Communicate. Keep doing what you're doing. Also Brothers your particular ministry is much needed. Also this video talks about Prayer. I get up for my daily Prayer at 3:00am nightly.I have never had to set my clock alarm to do this. Jesus woken me up for 3:00am Prayer for 8 years now. Jesus has kept me through 6 strokes even when man told my family that I must be cousin of "Bob Hope, No Hope. Jesus kept me while I was in the ER. Brothers keep doing what you're doing. God is using you to save lives. Brothers have a blessed day 🙏

Good stuff. I highly recommend getting NC Scout's books. Easy to read, clear, and concise. That jungle antenna is great. Easy to make and rolls up small enough to fit in a pocket. I cut mine for VHF, but its also resonant on UHF. The Baofeng works, its not the greatest on receive. I have had some problems using them with a yagi antenna. They are good for getting into radio. You will get better performance with other HTs should you decide to step further into the radio world. HF radio is where the real fun (and frustration) is.

Nice work. BAOfengs are a great tool to affordably open the door to comms for new peeps. I give them as gifts to wet the feet. Once people learn on these they can decide on higher quality comms. Side note: we need to build a bigger more effective community for comms and patriots to come together. I dont see enough of this out there on nets etc. The wind is blowing harder...GODSPEED PATRIOTS

Gimmicky as the AR-152's looked, I was always intrigued by them, primarily due to the large battery. Still, I thought they were too expensive for what they were. But I'm currently in the process of putting together a 'Get Home' bag, and the thought of a radio that would easily last for two or three days on a charge was quite attractive. Once I saw that the price had come down to what I considered to be a reasonable amount, I finally pulled the trigger on one. It's a nice radio and I think it'll work out well for my purposes!

40:37 Antennas do play a huge role in getting a legible signal out to your intended recipient, but the fidelity and purity of signal sent/received/translated by the transceiver is similarly important. It doesn’t matter that my antenna can transmit or receive a signal from 20 miles away, if the signal I am transmitting/receiving lacks purity/fidelity, then I am limiting my practical range.

Presently use variety of UV-82's, UV-9R's and DM-1701's. Not a lot of DMR in our area...repeaters are well out of range of HT's. The digital radios in the field are just for rainy day options. Presently finishing build on two Lillygo T-beam Supremes to have back up [extra options] to a "dedicated" Samsung A14's. Considering AR-152's. Can I use a splitter arrangement to run both to my PTT > to my ears/mic...and also to a Wifi tablet [in chest pouch]. Would not be used at the same time, but like the idea of not having to switch stuff around in the field.
@vitogriffin89022 ай бұрын
It's a good book with some great information, and I really like the easy to read font, but it's a little bit on the amateur side as far as editing goes for the price. There's many grammatical errors; the menu section isn't great in terms of completeness, the fact that he says to set squelch to 1 which is not a good idea for general use, and he says that BCL on menu 13 is for the backlight and it's not. That's busy channel lockout. Menu #6: ABR is the backlight options. Also the book states that putting the radio into dual watch mode (TDR) allows the radio to receive on both displayed frequencies simultaneously, which it doesn't. I think most people would understand what is meant though, and would realize that if the radio did receive both frequecies simultaneously then a person wouldn't understand either transmission because they'd be all jumbled into each other, so that's mostly semantical. These are just minor critiques, but I mention them because I view the book along the lines of a field manual, and we can get field manuals with similar amounts of content on whatever topic they cover for under $15, and ones with much more substance per topic for the price of this book. $22 isn't expensive, but it's about a $12-$15 book to be honest.

I have a HAM radio and GMRS. Currently I have my GMRS license and going to get my HAM license later on. The GMRS does not require taking a test like the HAM license does. Both of my hand-held radios are Baofeng. They are inexpensive and work. HAM is a lot more involved. GMRS is easier to get into, also uses repeaters to extend comms range. GMRS you use channels (preset freqs) with HAM you go straight to the feqs but can program channels. I am no HAM expert and would need NC Scout's expertise. For that matter I am no GMRS expert, but I am licensed and know how to use it.

I own some Baofengs, but I believe in the tools not toys doctrine and build capability and capacity. With that I would rather buy once cry once. I think that the Baofeng with mods is a tool. I think you can build a comms capability with them and then build volume. The Baofeng is cheap to buy the base radio, but by the time you add all the mods it isn't really any different then any other radio that doesn't need mods.
