Funnnnnyyyy but truuuuuueee!!!!!! I understand trying to be with the times and change things but no one's ever stopped anybody from going into the ocean because of their gender. Whether you're a guy or a girl you have to fight for your waves when you're surfing at one of the most Premiere surf locations on planet Earth. Even when you listen to the Gerry Lopez stories back in the day nobody was even out there at Pipe, guys or girls only a small handful of men. Only the women who like those kind of waves go out there regardless of the decade or a contest or having to get prepared for a contest. If that's your thing then that's your thing if it's not then it's not it and has nothing to do about somebody stopping somebody from doing something. There wasn't as many gnarly women as there are today so business-wise it probably didn't make sense to have an event that you weren't going to make any money off of regardless of the evolution of female surfing.. now that there's more money in surfing and there's more women that can step up and surf those kind of waves or at least try, it probably makes business sense to hold those events because it's still a business. Nothing is stopping somebody from going out there as if you're not allowed because you're a woman or something. I'm sure there's cool enough guys that would say hey come out with me I spot or block a couple of wavess for you and you can have mine. I understand equal pay to an extent now that the sport has grown to what it is for women but for example WNBA women don't get paid what NBA men get paid and back in the day no athletes got paid what happily to get paid today. A lot of people complain about the money but it takes time for support to grow because the sport can't pay athletes millions of dollars if art millions of dollars being made in ticket sales and merchandise and food sales and concessions and all that stuff. I'm sure women in the WNBA are making way more than when WNBA first started just like men who play in the NBA or any other Major League sport make way more than guys did 20 years or 30 years or 40 years or 50 years ago and even further back. I just takes time for an industry, a sports industry to grow and have the kind of money in the pay athletes what they're worth...

I dont have the experience to paddle out into big surf. I would love to ride nazare, currently the newport beach lifeguards would laugh at me for having this goal.
@charlesford1572 жыл бұрын
@@kylewattssurfing3266 The reason why the WNBA is not that popular is because most of the women that complain about pay disparity between them and the NBA aren't watching it. It needs their support. It needs to be watched. But, most of them are watching the NBA instead. Go figure.
