This is the best roping tutorial I’ve ever seen. You hit the finer points with nuance. Thank you!

Hey man i just bought a rope today and started practicing in my tiny apartment. Ive watched this video of yours a couple times, and i just wanted to say thanks for it. Its quick, super helpful and imformative. Took me about 5-10 tries before i started seeing results. Thanks so much for the help. I truely appreciate it!

From roping over a year in a half and winning a few ropings now i wish i had this when i started because i would practice everyday and watch videos and this is one of the best video that explains it really well and the other videos don't have nearly as much as info and being so simple

Really helpful video, I'm in the united kingdom and we don't have any team roping, ranch work over here, so videos like this are extremely helpful

Can you make a video about why my rope figure eights when I swing ? I can’t figure it out
@keetoncasey1043 Жыл бұрын
There could be a couple different things. Could be worn out. Could have a coil through the eye. Could be a twist in the rope
@huxleylucy-gi6zh Жыл бұрын
Thanks , I thought it might be because the rope is worn out but I also noticed the longer I swing the more it figure 8

@@huxleylucy-gi6zhprobably the way your swinging as well

It’s how you start. Another video did a great job of showing it but on your first swing try to make it as if you’re checking your watch and then continue your swing. If you start swinging with an underhand motion, that will give you a figure 8 loop even with a good rope. Hope that helps.

I can't do the spinning the wrist thing, I keep my wrist straight. I do keep my thump facing the steer's head.

Hey so I made a fake dummy bull. Out of wood it’s got a back 4 legs and 2 tall peaces of wood for the horns. Does anyone know if that’s ok?

How is that rope not wiggly like any rope I have ever used
@drnugs31816 ай бұрын
It’s called a ranch rope I believe, it’s a tough almost plasticly feel rope.

Who says having a parallel isn't right crossing the rope in your hand is not right I can guarantee you I've been roping for over 50 years and never done it your way and believe me I'm pretty damn good
@enj01sk8t3r4 ай бұрын
He's showing a more technically sound way. Sure you might be a great roper but you could be even better doing it another way. The point of crossing it in your hand adds to being able to feedsmoother off the first swing quicker.

Question for ya. My son and I just now are getting into learning how to use a lasso. I ordered a used 35' off ebay but i found a site out of texas and im Bout to order (2) new ones (probably 50' ones). We picked up gloves that are leather cause the rope was pinching our skin on our hands. Gloves makes a world of difference. When we swing, we have our hand closed (fisted with a firm grip) because otherwise we lose control. I see most everyone swing and thw rope is held by the fingers to where it don't look like they barely have a grip. I tried it but the rope falls onto me. So i grab it more to keep control. Is that? I just dont know how i can hold onto to it to get a fast swing unless i fist it. Or do i curl my 4 fingers around it and just have my thump kinda loose?
