ive been looking out for so many videos on what the heck the buttons on top are. HPF and PAD. and people with thousands of subscribers do not speak of it. I am so glad to have found this video where you actually spoke of when and why should one even touch those keys. thanks buddy. this really helps someone like me who has done studied sound and doesnt know alot about studio/audio equipment.

Damn dude I think you got robbed, this was one of the better videos I have seen. Had you just slowed down and gave a little more detail it would have been one of the best. You did hit on a few things I had not heard before.

I have a question regarding speaker feedback from my voiceover microphone: I purchased the MG 10XU and was able to hook up my powered monitors (which workfine either using the monitor outs or the stereo outs equally well). The audio coming in from the computer through the USB was flawless. The issue I have is feedback through the speakers when trying to record. My former mixer (another USB mixer made by Alesis) has a feature called "Auxiliary Sends" which allows me to keep the main microphone level knob down to zero and I use the AUX SEND knob to feed a line output to my computer (unfortunately the USB [OUTPUT] on this mixer doesn't work no matter what I do). So, with the Alesis using the Aux Send, I can record even at a high gain with no feedback whatsoever through the speakers... and then, I can immediately play back anything and without having to press any buttons or turning knobs (yet, with playback, everything coming through the speakers, gloriously. (If I try turning up the level knob in the lower left, I get of course the feedback, but with the Alesis, I can leave it at zero). Now, with the Yamaha, there are no Aux Sends anywhere on the board - is this why I am not able to record without the feedback (unless I mute the audio out every time)? In any event, I got the Alesis hobbling along again and the sound is decent, so I'm living with that (the downside being I am running analog and using the soundcard, rather than using USB interface which is what I wanted to do with the Yamaha). The reason I'm reaching out with this comment is, I'm wondering if there is a workaround to mute those speaker outputs while not having to adjust anything every time I go to record (which is very often as a voiceover artist doing auditions all day long). Or is this mixer just not designed that way? Thanks in advance!

Great primer vid. Quick question, can you hook up an Android Smartphone to the Yamaha MG10XU Mixer for the purpose of recording (with software on PC of course) a two-way phone conversation for a podcast? If the answer is yes, what would the connections be on this Mixing Board?

I am planning to purchase Yamaha MG10XU mixer. I will use laptop, do I need a usb interface or I can directly use usb connection of the mixer for KZbin or Facebook live, as well as song recording in laptop. That means I have to purchase this mixer and mic and that will be enough. Please clarify.

great video ! so I have a mcbook pro 17 and I have to use a usb hub, why did you say not too, curious

USB hubs divide power amongst all of the ports, unless they have their own power supply! You might run into issues with the USB drivers/hardware on the MG10XU if it's not connected via a (powered) hub or directly to the computer.

CRYSTALIXR it’s a printer usb cable. Regular usb on one side and small square usb on the mixer side.
