Bonds hit 73 hrs at 37 years old. After 36 he hit 200 hrs. How come? Steriods!!!! Most players are done by 36.

Exactly! Shouldn't we be amazed at what steroids can do and just make them legal? Watching 73 home runs is way better than 43 or whatever

MLB's fault: pitching was doing the same thing. Those miniscule era's during that period, make me wonder how deep the Baseball (scandal) goes.

I always got the impression that a lot of those IBB's (especially in 2004) were a silent protest of some sort, especially the bases-empty IBB's.

Not once did Barry complain about his many walks. On Base Percentage, (he) understood from the Greats, (within his family): Scoring Runs is the Name of the GAME! To be able to score runs: you (must) get on Base!!

Just FYI as an ex pro ball player (albeit briefly) and current steroid user and "expert". testosterone was around in the 1930s and was being WIDELY used in sports by the early 60s. I would not be at all surprised if many of the hall of farmers from the 60s,70s,70s were using gear. Especially considering it was not illegal until 1990. PEDs are part of ALL sports. The only way to level the playing field is to let everyone have free reign under doctors supervision. What will happen? Guys like shohei will still be the star of the league but won't get hurt as often and or will have an extra 3 or 4 Years on their career. Steroids will not take you from Dustin pedroia to Mike trout.

Agreed. Anybody who cheats the way Bonds did, is not a hero, or all time home run leader. That distinction goes to Hank Aaron.
@csnide67025 ай бұрын
@@KevinMiller-xn5vu well... the saddest part of that is that Bonds was good enough without the PEDs - he didn't have to do that. But yes - Hank Aaron was really a special talent. Amazing fact was that Aaron had 755 Homeruns but never hit more than 44 in a season - THAT is consistency.

I believe Bonds and the rest of the 'Roid Ragers should be in the Hall. Baseball turned it's head and looked away for YEARS, knowing this was going on. But after the cancellation of the 1994 post-season (and World Series), they were desperate to get fans back, and home runs were the trick. It was only AFTER that comeback did the owner decide that enough was enough and began going after these guys. But..... I also believe their records should not count. Bonds? McGwire? Sosa? None of it. Take them off of every statistical list. Aaron is still the home run king for a career, and Judge is the home run single-season record-holder. Cy Young awards? Randy Johnson. And so forth. There are various eras in baseball. In 1968, only one guy hit .300 in the AL (Yaz). In 1930, the ENTIRE NL hit .303. But the Steroid Era? Take it out.

GOAT. He played during the juiced ball era but was on his way to becoming the GOAT before using steroids. He was a prodigy that was seen as an asshole because he knew his worth. He was not likeable. I'm a huge Bonds fan, full disclosure. But OBJECTIVELY, he is the GOAT. Only ICHIRO and OTANI are in the discussion (humble)
