A rugby free spirit who played an unscripted game that made him very difficult to contain, he had a wonderful way of drifting into gaps, wonderful player to watch.🙏

As a kid I remember him on the 1971 lions tour to NZ He popularised the round the corner instep place kick (was not the first person to do this) Set the lions up for a series win with that first test performance, and without Edwards at half back (who went off injured) playing outside Ray Hopkins (Hopkins was probably the most unlucky half back of all time playing at the same time as Edwards) The King made the All Black fullback look like a mug with his pin point kicking, that day which contributed to Fergie McCormick missing those easy and vital kicks and then was dropped for a useless fullback who was little better than a club player

Barry was " A free spirit ", He was a game changer and the rugby world changed when he toured with Wales and the Lions ..Not sure how many sportsmen in history has changed theri particular sport so much ,,,,Retired at 27 ....already conquered the world .. R.I.P. ,,ABSOLUTE GENIUS ..G.O.A.T.
