It should be restored back to flying status and saved for history.

@@sblack48 I was thinking along the lines of one of the airplane restoration channels like Jimmy's world or Rebuild Rescue they do it all the time.

@ sure, all you need is money and lots and lots of it. It looks in good shape and KS is dry so it might not be too corroded. You are talking about $3-$400k just in parts, forget labour. If you had it done with paid labour you’re talking about million+. Would it be worth that after? I dunno. It’s been done certainly.

Be cool if it were restored to flying condition. Beech 18s are super cool aircraft.

I wonder if any inspiration was taken from this for the Miami Vice , Smugglers Blues episode. Glenn Frey played burned out ex Vietnam pilot flying a Beech 18 . My dad became a pilot in late 1973 . We rented lots of Cessna , Pipers and in 1976 joined the local Beech Areo Club and flew various Beechcraft . In 1980 my dad decided to buy his own plane and purchased a new Cessna 172 . Longest trip was from Baltimore BWI where we were based to Gadsden, Alabama .

Quickly get some kind of roofing or shelter over this plane ASAP!!!
@raycoleman31837 күн бұрын
why wouldn’t we want to know all the history of this plane? It is an inanimate object, not subject to guilt or innocence because of the escapades of it’s operators. Now, the people involved in those escapades…..that is another story. Hard to know one side of that history without the other being revealed. Most of them are dead by now anyway. Those who aren’t, not yet anyway, deserve to sweat a little.
