The show is not canceled it already got renewed for ninth season it’s just that the show won’t feature George Segal’s character of Pops anymore due to his recent passing, the actor couldn’t film any more episodes for this current season due to health issues.

The show has to end after this. Seasons 1-4 were Outstanding. Seasons 5 and 6 were solid. Season 7 and 8 is ear the show talking running out of ideas.
