I sent this to my daughter last year, she was going through something unfathomable and I was just going to send it to my friend but it might make her cry more with her situation.

You're a good mum
@calistashotts91244 күн бұрын
@belgianfried Thank you for saying that. Some people take so much for granted.. I think about everything I've been through and now I'm grateful for it so I can be more empathetic about just about everything and sometimes when you don't know what to say to someone until they're ready to talk about it, I love music and how I can send a specific song to show I'm thinking about them and in the situation with my daughter, this song fit perfectly. It's hard when someone you love is going through one of the worst things and I have to wait patiently and yet let them know you're there for them whenever they're ready and you're respecting the fact that they need space and it's too hard to talk about. We've all been through it, I believe. So, we just remember how we felt/feel at certain times and it guides us to be more understanding of others no matter how much you want to take their pain away and unfortunately we can't but we can help them get through it. I'm sorry, I was just going back to that specific time and even today with my son's broken heart, my grandson is 20 and we almost lost him recently to an accidental overdose... Too much hurt in the world. Sometimes a sincere smile can make a difference. God bless.

Rather your daughter remembers your singing ‘Can’t smile without you’ than my memories of my mum singing Irving Berlin’s 1923 hit ‘What’ll I do’!! Why that song I used to wonder in later life. I think she might have been feeling a little depressed and lonely in her marriage. I was number #4 and five years after the younger of my three older siblings.
@stanfuller19853 ай бұрын

I can't help but start crying tears of joy as soon as this songs starts. It brings me back to many innocent times growing up as a child and the happiness it has brought to me. It breaks my heart to see how much times have changed and where we have come since those days. It's a great feeling to have these memories come back to life as soon a song plays. And this one truly does that.

I'm so sorry for your loss. If it's any consolation, my grandma was also a fan of this song. She loved Barry Manilow so much. She and I used to dance to all his songs together. When she passed away in January of this year, I found myself humming the melody to this song at her funeral. I think it was her telling me it's ok, that she's in a better place. She's free now. I miss you grandma. ❤️

Welcome, scroller! Here's my time capsule: Just saw Mr. Manilow for the Last Indianapolis Show tonight, July 26th in the year of our Lord, 2024. This is my favorite song of his, and my goodness, did he perform it well this evening! He's still got it, he has that magic that makes us all smile! Everyone in the Gainbridge Fieldhouse was singing along joyfully, knew the lyrics word for word. People young and old showed, all with glowsticks in hand and smiles on our faces as we enjoyed in the master of music's performance. This will be a time I will never forget, and I'll keep coming back to this song 'till the day I die.

This song, for some reason, reminds me of a hobby I’ve had for forty-one years-old typewriter repair. This is the one thing I’ve done and dedicated a life’s work to for nearly half a century. The things I have seen, and continue to see. The things I have learned and continue to learn. I showed my girlfriend and she even helped me on some of the repairs. I shared a little of me with her!! Two I care about: her and it-both make me smile.

Married her at 20 and had two beautiful daughters, and three precious grandkids she left me for another man. I've never been the same. There isn't a day that goes by that goes by that I wake up and think of her. I'm 71 and can't seem to smile with out her. I thank God for my two daughters who helped me cope all this time. Went to a therapist for a year trying to find myself. She asked me not to start a new relationship unless I could close the chapter on this one. I'm still listening to this beautiful song that screams all I feel and not able to move forward. Thank you mr. Manilow for one of the most beautfiful songs ever.

One of my favorite songs. Many Barry Manilow songs have great lyrics and are a cross between show music and soft rock and roll. Many of them are sing-along too. I grew to like his songs more when I became older, but as a youngster, I would sing-along to this tune and "Daybreak." It is nice that his gifted songs made it to the public.

Had a dream about my mom who passed away. (I was 13) (I was my current self in the dream) I walked up to a vehicle in the middle of traffic jam on a rainy day. My mother was singing along to this song on the radio smiling and I looked closer and I seen my 8 year old self in the passenger seat. (I had never heard this song in my life untill the dream) I woke up and looked it up. Cried for 30 minutes straight. Im 29 years old this November 2019.

I remember the first times many of his songs were played on the radio and still can't believe this guy was also the artistic genius who wrote all those commercial jingles. We couldn't get THOSE tunes out of our heads either.

My mom passed away last month and this was one of her favorite songs. I used to feel happy hearing her sing it. When I first heard it, I thought this song was about two people falling in love and how they can’t live without each other’s company. Now I listen to the lyrics and realize it’s about how hard it is moving on, and how hard it is to smile without her.
