Frankie Valli is the one sitting down. He had in his younger years a high falsetto voice. They were the originators of "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Sherry", "Rag Doll", and many other great hits in the 60s. Frankie grew up in the next town over from me, and would come over quite often. Peace Bill.

Their biggest hits “Sherry” (1962), “Big Girls Don't Cry” (1962), “Walk Like a Man” (1963), “Dawn (Go Away)” (1964), and “Let's Hang On!” (1965). Frankie Valli as a solo artist had several wonderful songs: My Eyes Adore You, Grease, Swearin' to God, Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You... Valli scored 29 top 40 hits with the Four Seasons, one top 40 hit under the Four Seasons alias the Wonder Who?, and nine top 40 hits as a solo artist. - credit google!

The "4 Seasons" were a group of young guys and sounded no different than the original group. Valli did all the old standards as well as songs that never charted but were every bit as good. I had the pleasure of seeing The Four Seasons three times. Twice during the early 60's when Frankie was doing all of his big hits, "Sherry", "Ronnie", "Walk Like A Man", "Let's Hang On", "Workin' My Way Back To You", "Candy Girl (one of my personal favorites), "Opus 17", "Bye Bye Baby" and about 10 others. I later then saw him with this band. When they started singing the song I searched on stage for almost half the song before I realized it was the drummer singing. One of the greatest singing groups of the R&R era...and yes, this was well before the BeeGees started doing dance cuts. The BeeGees did NOT invent dance/disco music, which was a big hit in clubs and on the radio well before Saturday Night Fever.

This was a big hit twice, the first being in the mid 70s. I can tell you it is still super popular on the Jersey Shore bar/club scene till today. You were 'close' on what the song means but you missed it. It is about a young man losing his virginity in DEC of 1963 to a sex worker. Recall he does not know her name and gets a funny feeling when she walks into the room and it ends much too soon (premature e.....). Rush and rolling ball of thunder....come on guys it is obvious but don't feel bad many reactors miss what the song is really about. Still a classic and for the protagonist in the song a night he clearly will never forget.

For some trivia about the song, songwriter Bob Gaudio originally wrote the song about the Prohibition Era & titled it "December 5, 1933" & the band wasn't fond of it--to put it mildly! So, he went home & re-wrote the lyrics w/his wife's (Judy Parker) help & it turned out to be The Four Seasons biggest hit (and three men shared in the lead vocals, as you can see--rather than just Frankie Valli).
