Mirepoix ix just 2 parts onions, 1 part celery and 1 part carrot diced up. For ANYTHING soups, stews, curry.. it has nothing to do with what makes chicken soup smell, that would be chicken stock or bouillon.

I live on the East Coast and leaves are everywhere, either you rake them up put them in garbage bags, mow the lawn and mulch them up with the grass, or just let them go. Nobody I know over the course of my life burns the leaves. Hell, I don't know if I have ever smelled burning leaves, terrible 2nd pick. Also Carl making a great point about burning popcorn smelling awful...tough response for Eddie.
