They have given him EVERYTHING. He has been able CREATE CONTENT with the TOP TWO guys on barstool for 4 presidents. They have given him a FULL TIME CONTRACT. They gave him an opportunity to do a job TYPING on a computer or looking into and camera and talking into a microphone for GREAT PAY. He has done NOTHING but attack people with cans, get people fired, and DO NO WORK at all. He gets angry because despite his content being talk about by the top Two People at barstool that NONE of it has taken off. Others in the company have come and gone from barstool who didn’t have Dave and Dan because there content EXPLODED. Others who didn’t leave have made monster content for barstool. I really think that he thought he had unlimited opportunities and now he is realizing it was NEVER TRUE.

Rico Bosco thrives in a hierarchal environment. He’s very loyal to those above him, and he expects loyalty flowing down as well. He appreciates a clear and obvious chain-of-command so that everything is known- Who’s his boss, who is mid-management, worker(s), intern(s). In an environment like Barstool, it’s a ‘flatter’ organization with a changing straight up-and-down structure for content. This is by design, and a huge plus for a creative organization. There are a ton of folks (this employee included) that are sometimes up, sometimes further down, the food chain than before. No one is ‘fixed’ in place. This is due to unpredictable factors like page views, or podcast success, or show branding. Because of this ‘leap-frogging’ over his own roster spot, he becomes insecure of his place in the organization. So, to prevent this from happening, he automatically poops on other employees (metaphorically) to keep them down the ladder beneath him. This doesn’t work however, because some still leapfrog him on occasion due to things like page views, podcast success, etc. THIS IS NOT HIS FAULT but a nature of the job, itself. Someone goes viral, they become the next big thing. Also, this leap-frogging effect (ie Alex Cooper, but there are others, Gaz, whoever) causes the boss to appear not as loyal as this employee expects. This employee is reluctant in a constantly churning talent pool, with people always up/down based upon their latest efforts. If/when Rico realizes that his ability to climb the ladder is based solely on *his* efforts, irrespective of other people’s efforts, he would start to thrive in this type of work environment. It’s a management ‘type’. Heirarchal thinking, better ability than most to follow a chain-of-command, higher-than-normal loyalty, all these things make it difficult for this employee to function in a free-wheeling environment like Barstool. The fix? ** Give him a silo **. Give him a direct manager, and a direct report. Give him an absolute schedule, with a set time and set place to work each week. Create a dashboard that continuously gives him feedback on the crucial benchmarks that he will be judged by (page views, blog posts per week, numbers of hours on camera or podcast), etc. Praise him when he exceeds, scold him when he falls short. This guy can take direction and orders. He can take criticism (if it's constructive) and praise (can't we all!) But Rico *cannot* take direction or orders with two different skips, 25 co-workers that he feels he competes against and his perception of a ‘lack of trust’ from people above him in management- because he gives above-average loyalty and expects it in return... and it is hard to give him the loyalty he needs if another employee becomes the next big thing for a couple days.
