Hi Girls, you are great. My mini just was diagnosed today. Would you use Timothy grass pellets as a grain?
@BarSZRanch2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Louise! Timothy Grass pellets are not a grain - but our horses love them and will eat them readily. We use the pellets for horses that have a hard time eating (mostly due to old age). They are perfect for “hiding” medication in and do not cause the side effects that grain can be responsible for. As with any feed, check with your veterinarian before using or changing your usual feeding protocol. Thanks for the question!

@@BarSZRanch Thank you for your reply. So I have it figured out for now. The girls each get Triple Crown Timothy Balance cubes, soaked. The Prescend pill goes into a red vegetarian empty capsule. We fill a syringe with about an inch of water, place the capsule in the tip of the syringe and get it down her that way. She is very picky and because of me hiding pills in apples, carrots, celery, etc. this is the only method to get her to take her medicine. I use the red capsules cause I can see if she spits it out. This cushngs stuff is hard work. They also get timothy pellets, Triple Crown Lite and LMF Stage 1. Oh and of course Timothy hay. Thanks again for your help.

There is a new natural formula produced by Cavalor called Laminaid. We have used it on both laminitic horses and on a cushing pony. It is amazing and has most certainly helped. It has also been tested, I believe, by the Kentucky Equine University on IR horses (often associated with Cushing and Laminitis) with very positive results.

Wow, thanks for the recommendation! We will have to try it out.

@@BarSZRanch I have been so worried as this is the first time I have horses and my mini now has Cushings. Incidwntly my husband and daughter both have pituitary growths and the vet with humor said its hereditary. However I have been so upset about it. Watching your video and your uplift presentation, I felt better knowing qe can do something as I believe we caught it early. Thank you for easing my anxiety.

Ranae’s horse Dusty recently got diagnosed with Cushings. We’ve been studying up on it. This video is a great help! We dissolve our Prascend in water and give it by mouth because the vet said it tastes terrible. Does Woody take his okay? How long has he been on the medication?
@BarSZRanch4 жыл бұрын
Hi, John! We are so glad to hear that you are taking care of Dusty and learning more about Cushing's Disease. Woody is doing fantastic and is super great at taking his Prascend. We’ve had him for a year and he’s been great the whole time.
