Amazing. Bartok was so ahead of his time. The orchestration is masterful. Love the pairings of the celesta with the first violin, then with the piano, then with the harp. Very haunting music. Great performance.

A moving transcendental ensemble that I can hardly believe to be a live performance. Bravo.

Truly a wonderful performance, especially for college kids! Lots of passion and comprehension. Mr. Yoo took the 3rd movement a bit too slowly in parts, though.

This is a fabulous vid of one of my fave Bartok tunes. The camera angles help tell the story of the passion. It's lively, lilting and super fun. I was looking for LA Phil video playing this but couldn't find one. This must be as good as they could do anyway. The conductor is super good in this smiling for the camera and pointing the players to come in and do their thing. There's more than one way to rock this tune and this illustrates the fundamentals for music students. Cartoon music is good too like from Bugs Bunny and the Road Runner. That's fine art too and a lot of it stems from Bartok.

What a great performance! Congratulations to all of the players - a warhorse, but more like a bear (warbear?). I've loved this piece all my life; my dad wrote his Masters thesis on it. Great to see it played with such verve! I also enjoyed Joo's obvious connection to the piece. Thanks again!
@eddiegalon37146 жыл бұрын
wow. What did your Dad discover anything about it's meaning to Bartok? For me I see visions of everything from alien invasions to war, to natural disaster. It's all dark, and I love it. Bartok may have been writing purely with the music in mind.
