My conductor had a teacher who told a story of seeing his works live, Bartok was still alive and in the front row, hunched over and nearing his last years before he was incapacitated. The conductor asked Bartok what he thought. The man mustered his energy, stood and belted out as loud as he could while shaking his hand like an Italian chef "DRYER! Needs to be dryer!" A truly 'him' thing to say.

Excellent musical playing! Nothing missing of this wonderful work of Bartok. Sounds like a permanent stringquartett formation of high level. Thou compliment for this intense study of the work.

Got here via autoplay. I cleared my history and the YT algorithm chose this following Elliott Carter's String Quartet #5 as performed by Pacifica. Bartok is indeed very modern!

So so beautiful THANK YOU! I am going over the string quartets 30 years after I first heard them and bought the pocket score just a few months before entering Conservatory. Incredible if you analyze the harmonies in this one!!!
