BART: Legacy Fleet - Final Weekday in Scheduled Service

Yesterday, September 8, 2023 was the final weekday of scheduled service for the legacy fleet. The final scheduled service will be Sunday, September 10, 2023. Here are some clips of the trains in service during the morning and early afternoon.
A handful of legacy cars will remain as ready reserve in case of broken down FOTF starting next week, but I’m not expecting any significant amount out and about. So here is the final weekday of them out and about.

I was planing on riding those Rohr A and B Cars along with the Fleet of the Future Cars the Bombardier D & E Cars going to Walnut Creek and get pictures of one of the new County Connection buses the 2023 Gillig Low Floor's one last time in August 2023 one last time, but a lot of things got me distracted during that month. Time moved by very fast during this month of September. I will miss the Legacy Fleet the A, B, C1, and C2 cars when all of the Rohr A & B Cars retire tommorow. 🥺

BART is so under appreciated. It feels like it's going faster by the time the last car leaves a BART station than most metros get to on their fastest stretch. That's a bit of an exaggeration but BART is in a very elite group in terms of top speed and average speed. It's also less herky jerky than almost any other US Metro I've been on since it's almost 100% operated in automatic mode. Can't say it's the quietest but if I'm riding from North Concord to Embarcadero or something, I'll trade some serenity for the fast journey it delivers.

Legacy fleets would be in revenue for extra trains instead of scheduled trains, if necessary

There are two legacy consists labeled under ready reserve, which means only as a substitute for an FOTF taken out of service.

I have a question what's gonna happen to all the old trains once they retire what do they do with the parts ?😕

send most of them to scrap. 3 cars will be preserved by the western railway museum.

The new cars are terrible and are just as bad as the C cars. The old cars will be sticking around and the plan is to use them as a back up. I don't think after Monday they will all be junked. The idea to use only the new cars is a cost cutting measure which I think will backfire on BART.

A lot of the parts are being scrapped/thrown away. Some are being donated. Keep an eye out in the coming year(s) about some of these parts being sold.
