"I wish we lived in the kitty house." Yeah, you'd think that wouldn't you? A friend of mine and his wife rescued some pregnant street cats and at some point, with their own cats combined they had like 15 cats tearing ass around their house. I was over a few times and sure, it was pretty fun while I was there, but I left after, they lived there. I cannot imagine dealing with 15 assholes for that long every day, I rarely leave my house unless I have to. They ended up adopting most of the cats out after they made sure they were properly fixed and were updated on their shots. I believe they kept one. The street cats ended up staying street cats because they couldn't get along with the indoor cats, but they now stay close by the house, were spayed and I believe they ended up putting out some heated cat huts for when it gets cold out with little bales of hay.

@@Popcornchicken42 about right, in the 80s it was probably a 20% deposits approx. Noting my calcs are based on Australian minimum wage, which is about 5+ time what it was in the 80s. So house prices should be about $400,000-500,000 in a town of what could be assumed as 60,000 or less people. Honeslty seems quite realistic. For the USA this is apparently quite similar but I am only basing this of some statistics for economic pages.
@TomJacobWАй бұрын
@@dalebaker2346 inflation and prices went up, too. Wages did not go up with the cost, heck, compare even just company profits and wages together since the 80s - that graph will make you very angry. Also there’s college debt in the US etc. It really did get worse, people aren’t just imagining it. Cheers ✌️

The child abuse in the Simpsons used to be the best.
@Jen786710 ай бұрын
I mean obviously, it's very bad. But I think it's important to point out that it is cartoon, not real life. So thankfully nobody is actually getting hurt. Plus, sometimes creators and writers of a show create things like this in order to say "Okay, so here's what some parents do, (or worse) but here's what NOT to do." 🙂 Especially with Simpsons creator Matt Groening in particular. If you've had the chance to read about his goals for the Simpsons, one of them was to show a representation of a nuclear American family where parents can't/won't/don't always know how to solve the family's problems. Nearly all of the sitcoms on TV while he was growing up centered around a nuclear family where the parents always knew best, and always did everything perfectly. The children were idealized versions of children, too; perfect and sweet. Groening knew that this model he saw on tv everywhere wasn't very realistic, and he wanted to satirize those shows, and poke fun at the stereotypes of each family member and each profession, while still making them redeemable as characters.

Homer strangles Bart, Marge takes new baby too visit her two smoking Aunt's. No wonder in the 80s 1-800-child-Abuse was Aired During TV Ad's. In the early 80s information was coming out left and right about The danger's of Second--Hand smoke from American Cancer Society/The Heart Association/The Lung Association especially its deadly affect's on babies, Marge was no better than Homer.

You clearly don't understand social commentary unless it is shoved into your face with enough pressure. lol (: Bart beeing strangled was a dark joke, but there is actually an episode where they show that it resulted in major health issues. Also, noone really needs to be informed that strangling someone is dangerous. Just like noone needs to be told that poking someones eye with a stick or burning your own skin is not good. The smoking commentary is however much more direct. Every time they show the aunts smoking in proximity of the children, the children are caughing, clearly indicating that they cannot even breathe next to it. How you can see that as supportive of smoking ... really?
