Lion fish still are invasive as hell in the Caribbean. They somehow got there through container ship ballast according to the dive guide I was talking to (They're native to the Indian ocean). So we'd be diving on the reef only for one of the guides to swim off pull out a spear gun and nail a lion fish to the sand and cut its head off to make sure it wasn't just injured.

The picture with lion fish was taken off the coast of Florida it is one dude and he got in trouble for it but was then later acquitted because there were no laws against it. And even if there were he was far enough out that I do not believe the laws of the United States matter. So far he is like the only person I know of who hunts with a gun so far Most people use a little hand held spear with a rubber band. The thing is what that though Is you have to get it off the spear which risks you pricking yourself also it's a very low rate of fire. The lion fish is not a very fast swimmer. So what this dude does is he uses a glock with that he has a high enough rate of fire that he can shoot 3 or 4 fish back-to-back and then he doesn't need to pull it off a spear he can just scoop them into his bag and then go. After he was let go from his charges he is now working on a specific type of underwater suppressor because the pressure from firing hurts his ears as water is incompressible which is why explosions are so much more devastating under water and it will hurt you. Which he will sell that suppressor on the market once hes finished and then after that he wants to work on making bullets that work well under water and then making an underwater gun that will not rust when submerge it seawater and will work better under water.
