What an amazing ride! Learned a lot more about beloved Fire Island! Thank you.

My family took our boat through the channel and picknick on Democrat Point in the 1960's. Loved the place. The coast guard would man a very tall tower station and we would see them come and leave the tower. Once abandoned we would climb to the top and look out over the magnificent view. After one storm an old wooden ship was revealed in one of many 'moon craters' we called them. As teenagers we would have big fires on the beach and grill the fish we caught or the steaks we brought along. Ah, the freedom, then😁

In 1995, I went for a run to the end of Fire Island from Saltaire. Seem to remember it was maybe 14-15 miles there and back, although not sure if my memory serves me correctly. I was training for a marathon so needed a long run and I wanted to see where my father enjoyed fishing years earlier. A wonderful though very tiring run! But it looks as if the island are since then. I used to hear about Democrat Point as a kid and wanted to see it. I don't run now but I've been a regular participant in the Great South Bay Swim. No family property on the island now but still a privilege to set foot near the lighthouse albeit briefly. Love that island!

I’m there on average every 2 weeks. Love my surf fishing. I watched a gentleman about 100 yards down of me catch a 54 pound strip bass last week. My cowness! I’ve only seen those in magazines. What a beautiful place. Classy video great job!

That was beautiful. Long Island is beautiful. I remember years ago walking to that rock jeti and it ended not long after. This year I walked back to end from field 2 with my husband and couldn’t believe the extended landscape. We never made it to the end of that peninsula in this video. it was such a long walk. But glad I got to see it in this video. I always wondered what was on the other side. I so appreciate this video. Loved it.
