This is the most underrated moment of Bartolo’s career. Everyone remembers the homer off Shields, and how he’s “big sexy,” but this guy was one of the most consistent pitchers in MLB history. He had a hard fastball early on with Cleveland, and as his career progressed he became more and more crafty with his pitches, and his velocity became secondary to his immaculate control of the strike zone which allowed him to stay in the league as long as a lot of kunckleball pitchers do. He’s not a hall of famer, but he will always be memorable.
