In this video I talk about some of the problems people have, when they're low on the black, and they split the reds.
There are a few common mistakes, so this video should help people have a bit more success with this shot.

I must say these are far and away the best snooker coaching videos available on YT, or anywhere else for that matter. You explain everything so clearly, with a minimum of fuss and gimmicks (unlike others I could mention) and you always have plenty of great practice tips too. I've been a struggling club player for years and these are making me want to practice more and as such I'm slowly improving my game, so thank you and please keep them coming.

Already a unique coach by wrapping the towel over the triangle with the reds already there to carry on the exercise quickly and effectively. Great tips given as well super happy thanks Steve

The problem i m facing is that I'm not able to judge my power , that what shot need how much power . Though i have seen ur self power analysis video . I ll try more to assess my power deeply and get command over accuracy , precision , depending upon distance & angle . If u could make video when u get time thay how to assess self power that will be helpful . Thpugh this things is of inner persons feel of his mind and hand power . Anyways . Thanks

Hi Steve. I love the game of snooker and have been playing for years but am always looking for hints and tips, and have to say your tutorials are extremely well made. Concise, clear and to the point. Keep them coming because you've earned yourself a subscriber. In the meantime, can you put together a video showing how to split the reds when high on the black instead of low as in this tutorial? Personally I consider that a much harder shot so would welcome any advice you can offer. Thanks in advance. 👍

Hi. Thanks for watching! I have a video on developing cue power which talks about using a longer backswing to generate the spin on the white ball more easily.

Hey Steve, any videos about splitting the pack when top side of the black? Pretty interesting when using top with side (when and how)... Thx in advance! Cheers, Jeff

I think also the important thing is not to get those reds too split up if you know what I mean. For beginners it usually means that 3 or 4 reds end up in balk line and the rest 10 are still pretty much all together down there with nothing to aim after the black. What do you thing? Could it be also a bit too pacy because of that?

How the white ball reverses after hitting the reds?
@BartonSnooker
@BartonSnooker 5 жыл бұрын
Hi. Because the white ball still has lots of backspin once it hits the reds, it will then accelerate again once it makes contact. So lots and lots of backspin on the white ball, it hits the reds, then still has all that spin on, and reverses after hitting the reds again.

These tips are dam annoying, he keeps telling me exactly where went wrong playing this, and many other shots I missed Saturday night. I'm a pool player who's decided to start playing snooker, and although I have pretty good control of the white it's another ball game when it comes to snooker. Thanks for making the videos, a great guide.
