Honestly Barty Crouch Jr’s entire life is sad. His Dad was so neglectful and loved his job more then he loved his son. I don’t blame Barty Crouch Jr for becoming a villian for Voldermort.

He and Voldemort both hated their Fathers and both were immensly talented in magic, dark arts and willing to go over the line to achieve their goals. That I think is why Barty was so devoted to Voldemort.

Honestly, when I was younger, I loved Belatrix, but now that I'm going back through the series, Barty Crouch Jr. is my favorite. I still love Belatrix, but I have started to like Barty Crouch Jr. just a bit more.

Love this idea! Of all the different what-ifs I have ever thought of in HP universe, this was never one but it is such an amazing idea that will probably be stuck in my head for days (or weeks) now. A random thought that occured to me while thinking about Barty Crouch Jr. as professor in the seventh book idea - Neville would be among the students that he was teaching. And considering Neville already was one of the leaders of DA when Carrows were teaching in the books, I can only imagine he'd be even more determined if the teacher in question was one of the people responsible for torturing her parents to insanity. And Crouch would for sure enjoy teaching the students how to use cruciatus curse in class while Neville was there.

This comment made me think - if Crouch Jr was teaching in the seventh book as this theory suggests, there would be opportunities for interactions between him and Winky as well. Looking at Winky's loyalty to the Crouch family, she would most likely still see him as a master despite working at Hogwarts now so there would be potential for interesting storylines there too.

I could possibly never hate Barty. His life was so sad. Also, it's hard to differentiate what he was pretending to be Moody and what was actually out of him. We can confirm that he was a good teacher as Harry said in the books he was very close to being as good as Lupin. Also, he teaches his students how to get out of the Imperius curse which Death Eater shouldn't. Maybe Moody wanted to do so but maybe Barty was so sick of being under this curse for over a decade that he decided to teach them how to get out of it. Who knows. It looks like he was enjoying his time at Hogwarts. It makes sense because Hogwarts was his home and he lived his best years there. I can see a parallel with Harry here. It's hard to say if Barty would be happy about destroying Hogwarts. The other important thing is that Barty went "psycho" during his stay in Azkaban and after the Imperius curse he was under for such a long time. Dumbledore wasn't sure if he was part of torturing Longbottoms we only know that Barty was present and Dumbledore is usually right. Killing Barty off was tragic and I would love to see more of him and his destructed human psyche. To me, Barty felt very real. He was that kind of villain you can relate to which in the case of Bella, Voldy, and Dolores is impossible.

Fudge didn't want to deal with the headache of Voldemort's return, so he eliminated the only person other than Harry that could have given a testimony in court and then a formal investigation would be launched by the Wizengamot. The lengths that Fudge went to deny Voldemort's return was kinda messed up.

So good, now I Need Barty Jr alive, with the whole department of mystery stuff Edit: Wait I just reallised, the depression around Mad Eye’s death would Start earlier than the Hallows (when MAD Eye is killed) But then with Mad Eye’s fear for Barty Jr. Because Mad Eye feared no evil wizard, but with his trauma for Barty, I think that they would realise that mad eye (the strongest Order member) has a weak point (so the Order has one, because he carried the order)

Such an interesting take! I think the tension between Snape as headmaster and Barty would be interesting as well. When he posed as Mad Eye he always egged on at Snape and I don’t think he would respect Snape as a headmaster now. Especially when Snape tries to subtly protect students.

I was wondering this recently, why he had to be eliminated so soon. He could have just played the fool and pretended Voldemort wasn’t back, or acted mad enough to be indecipherable. Unfortunately he wouldn’t be able to be the DA professor due to the curse on that role, assuming it would work that way - kinda comes down to technicalities and interpretation. Wonder how it would’ve affected Neville to have BCJ stay around.

I love this "but if" but I have to add I truly think that Barty would kill Bellatrix or she kills him. I don't think she could've "worked" with him at Voldemorts side as she would be so incredibly jealous of him because he worked hand in hand with the dark lord and is responsible for his uprising! I don't think her jealousy could handle it. I personally think Barty would come out on top but I also realise Bellatrix is important for the Sirius plot but man that would be so cool to see how it would pan out!!!

I think you’re right they’d be jealous of each other but I don’t know if they’d kill each other - there’s clearly tension between Bellatrix and Snape in the books, but without Voldemort’s say so I don’t think any of them would kill each other.

@@BrettsThoughts I think you're right, they'd probably be arguing and trying to put the other one down but especially Bellatrix is too devoted to Voldemort to go against his will or without his approval and I think Barty Jr. is the same but in a different way. Ah this is one of your best videos for sure. I was gonna make a video on Barty Crouch myself for my first video but this kinda did it! (I do Harry Potter videos too if anyone wants to subscribe, no pressure ofc) Barty was definitely wasted potential and I really wish he didn't get his soul sucked. Most people seem to think that Neville not killing Bellatrix was missed potential, but Barty Jr would've equally as hated by Neville since he too tortured Neville's parents, so it would've been nice for Neville to get his revenge so Molly can still kill Belatrix.
