Many sociologist choose sociology by accident. I'm still a first year college student taking up BA Sociology but looking at my classmates most of us have a little or no idea on what Sociology is most of us choose Psychology as our first choice cause we think Sociology is the closest discipline to Psychology then our prof in Gen. Sociology debunk this and said that Sociology =/= Psychology. Sociology gives me a wider perspective on things on our society now my head can't stop thinking and asking questions

This has been inspirational to me. I love her message in the end as aspiring to be holistic, and that money is only one aspect of it. I've worked jobs that paid well, but I was not getting enough of that holistic satisfaction, or a holistic perspective in life. Now I work a job that's not too high in pay, but I am pressured in a good way, and I am able to think well and remain creative. I can't believe I am new to this channel. The content could have helped me with my thesis in Filipino nationalism prior to graduating 😛

I like that someday I'll become an in house sociogist in an engineering firm. Although I'm not a Sociology Major, I'm a Civil Engineering Major who loves Social Sciences especially Sociology so much that I want to have it in the future. I like her what she said that sociologist are formed by accident. Well I'm fortunate that serendipity leads me to this noble profession.

This is an excellent discussion, what a treat. Thanks for this chance of letting us know more about these liberal arts or humanities courses in college. Having this very good background and concepts, I can suggest these courses to my children in the future.

Hi everyone! I was brought here by searching Filipino and Sociology in the search bar and I can’t get over how nice this discussion is. Like most accidents in Sociology, I too stumbled upon a great prof in Sociology during my undergrad pursuing Chemistry and now pursuing my PhD in Sociology. I wanted to see how Filipinos are talking about social issues back home and this video was a great intro. I will keep looking around, on KZbin and in academia (currently reading Servants of Globalization by Rhacel Parreñas) on Filipino-related topics. If you have suggestions/recommendations, please let me know!

I love this episode! I'm randomly searching for an answer to what's good with Sociology in terms of how to achieve eudaimonistic life then. KZbin brought me here and found this short discussion. I love how Dr. Bubbles expounded everything inclined with sociological perspective. I'm an Anthropology student in UP and I knew that Sociology is so called the "cousin" of my major program, which is the Anthropology. I want to sit in her class someday. She has caught my interest in taking Sociology as my minor, still contemplating tho.

the point of this episode is how filipinos should not enrich themselves financially but also literacy and ethically. andaming magagandang points na brought up like "how to be a good citizen". naalala ko tuloy yung lolo ko pinapabasa samin yung libro nung bata pa kami.

Huhuhu omg may this episode bring justice to those people asking me why I studied Sociology. P.S. Ma'am, would be a privilige to have a casual discourse with you on the next PSS National Conference.

They would have to speak from a place of privilege if they do that so. Filipinos, poor or rich, understandably value practicality over hobbies. How can you possibly advertise to a breadwinner or to a child who plans to give back to a family to take up Art History when he or she can just read a free book or watch a free video to learn about it? Art as a profession isn’t for everyone. The best way is to have a profession that provides time and money to sustain your artistic side.
