This is the best Basbousa I ever tried. I just reduced the sugar to ½ cup and instead of sugar syrup I soaked it with thinned condensed milk (condensed milk+water), and topped the cake with whipped cream. It was so delicious my family loved it!!

Made it last week, everyone loved it. I feel fortunate to have a hold of this recipe of Basbousa. The only issue was the syrup. I think it is too much sugar, so I reduced it to 2.5 instead of 3.5 cups. Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi did you add fresh scraped coconut or Desiccated coconut
@sophiam95152 жыл бұрын
@@Liza14715 I did, yes... dessicated coconut. If you dont add dessicated, you will not get the flavor. It is an important ingredient...so i reccomend that you dont use the scraped one. I dont add orange peel though.

Thank you for the video. Boys and girls, it doesn't matter Arab or Turkish recipe. The main thing here that we're all enjoying it and that any person who's making such recipe and more so posting it for others to learn, in fact Helping in keeping the Tradition, Great Food and History of Food! BTW: on second 0.03 the recipe must be fixed, it reads 3.5 cups of sugar twice instead once sugar and then water.

@@amnausmanmua you don’t have to use all that sugar because I do agree Turkish desserts are super sweet so I only used 1 cup of sugar and two cups of water for the syrup and it was absolutely delicious.
@TheHouseofcoolstuff3 жыл бұрын
She says in the end of the video that she was experimenting and tried the orange zest but I really liked it with the orange zest as I often find the basbousa plain tasty and flavorless and all that sweetness from the syrup just hits you. The orange zest gave it a pop that it needed. You don’t have to add if you don’t want it, it’s totally an option.
