Base Macan - The Sensible Porsche Bargain?

We recently swapped our Macan 2.0 for a Cayenne S and if I’m honest………………my wife prefers her Macan. It was a facelift with lots of options, now we have a Cayenne S with loads of options and for me the Cayenne has load more space, lovely to be in, looks great and has the V6 smooth powerful power plant. However being honest nd on balance, dah……….dahhhhhhhhhh…..the Macan is better value for money 👍

Personally the Cayenne doesn't do it for me looks wise.... Something about the proportions. Macan is loads better!

@@TABonTV so does my wife……on balance the Cayenne is a nicer place to be, the engine is better, the ride is better, the room is better. But……the Macan does have the looks.

Great review, enjoyed watching this thank you. I agree with your comments I have a Porsche 992 Carrera S and we’ve took delivery of a new Macan T last month for the Mrs/family/dog car. I have to say I really enjoy it. Feels very light and nimble when cornering and it’s quick enough when you get the revs up. I think the T makes sense over the base as very few people are going to take a base Macan with no options. You are going to need to spend at least £5k in options in my humble opinion so why not get the T in that case. Porsche advertise the low start price but in reality very few of these cars will have a final build price of less than £60k as everything is an option. 👍

I don’t understand why anybody would spend so much money on a new luxury car when you can buy it 2-3 years later for less than half the original price and just broken in.

Should be good. The platform and the engines have now had a decent amount of time to prove themselves.

I must say that this review was very reflective of my own experience, of a high spec Macan 2.0 courtesy car I had for about 3.5 weeks. I never felt the car lacked BHP once moving, but a bit more torque away from roundabouts etc. to move the weight mass would have been handy and I also considered that a few years ago, there would have been a diesel option. I had the car during summer 2021 lockdown, so did not do huge miles, but seemed to average 30-34mpg. The downside for me is that the base model is now £53.4K and the T almost £59K, only just short of the S, with what seems to be little real world economy benefit

I wouldn't buy any Porsche unless it has 6 or 8 cylinder. I'm a huge gti fan but I hold Porsche to a much higher standard

VW knows how to make cars, their Gti 4 cylinder is a great engine all around. Plus Vw has the best sequential gearbox in the market, with the Porsche PDK/Audi DSG
