I'm new to BPs and loving this world. Absolutely gorgeous animals with incredible combination possibilities. Coming from a long history in the dog world, I am a bit concerned about the general attitude towards the Spider wobble, though. It reminds me a lot of what happened in the American lines of the German Shepherd. Everyone was so focused on getting the look right that the occasional joint issues were dismissed as "no big deal." Now, American GSDs suffer from all manner of severe joint issues. They either end up needing incredibly expensive surgeries or just get put down (or worse yet, are allowed to suffer for years). I think Spiders and their combos are gorgeous and I'd love to keep seeing them be apart of BPs. I just think the best thing to do would be to find Spiders with little to no wobble and only breed those, until the trait is bred out entirely. Thanks for the great content. I'm looking forward to lots more.

Charles Eye A lot of the spider morphs and spiders themselves now don’t have wobble or have little wobble. So I believe it’s being bred out.
@scalesinthesnow64575 жыл бұрын
The spider wobble cannot be bred out in this manner. It's tied to the mutation. Unlike the dismissing of a genetic problem over generations. A spider with a terrible wobble can produce offspring without any wobble, and one without a wobble can throw terrible wobble. It's a roll of the dice. it's not as simple as going in and only breeding those without wobble. Anyone who claims you can hasn't an idea how the spider wobble works.

I have 2 Bp's with the Spider complex. My two blue eyed beauties do have a wobble, having become more pronounced as they get older. It sure hasn't I affected their appetite and their strike is spot on (when excited, they sometimes miss, but so do my other bp's) Some ppl are put off by it, but it's not something that bothers me. They are two of my most beautiful snakes, with a great temperament (but that has nothing to do with the Spider gene LOL)

Totally agree I have a Spider Calico Lesser Cinny Enchi, she had no wobble until about 110g and it showed up as you said " She loses the floor" but if held and supported under her chin she is fine. sometimes seems its not there but her feedd response is so intese she gets so excited that it shows up and she will miss from time to time if I hold the food at an extreme angle above her head. I adjusted my feeding technique and she is one if not................ the family favorite and by far the prettiest ball python I own. I am not a snake breeder, I only breed gree tree monitors and keep Ball pythons as pets.

Thank you!

thank you for your kind words and support with my channel.....the ball python is a very nervous snake and it's more fear aggression for why they strike, show them your not going to eat them lol and they tend to calm down. I do feel they can sense fear and can pick up on things. 😁

Pretty little spider Gavin, I wish yours had more orange in it like mine does. She's a beauty. For some reason my goofy Orange Ghost misses her strikes almost always on the first try. I think the spider gene is really aesthetically pleasing and has the potential to make the most amazing living art but I am put of by the wobble. stop for one second and imagine this: What would you think if people were breeding dogs for profit with the spider typical wobble/corkscrewing? If your dog would flop on floor or bang into stuff with its head when it gets "excited". You'd be outraged, so why is it ok to knowingly breed ball pythons with this specific neurological issue?
@Balls2U6 жыл бұрын
Rickard Rakkoon people breed dogs with knowing problems.... French bulldog- breathing problems, Dachshund- spine problems, miniature schnauzer- cataracts, boxer- back leg problems....... also I don't breed for profit, I breed for me...... and if I have babies I don't need then I offer for sale.

Great guy and I appreciate the age of this vid but this is inaccurate and how disinformation is created. All the spiders in my collection were produced from one female (a descendant of one of the first pastels shipped into the US) and I now have 8 spiders I held back from her three that have produced for me and no sign of this wobble. Spiders should be looked at as lines. Not all have a wobble. If this is the perception I can do a vid to easily prove this wrong. Once you start out with a founder spider with wobble issues and you continue to hold back animals and so fourth you are actually introducing this defect throughout your collection. This is usually done either for the goal of hitting a choice animal or the love felt for that animal. My guess its also how it showed up in other genes because there are other traits that are polymorphic..................Calgary Alberta Canada
@Balls2U5 жыл бұрын
Not sure what I said wrong, however I do agree with you.
@CatherinesClaws5 жыл бұрын
I personally think that breeding spiders is inhumane and disgusing. The animal's quality of life should NEVER be decreased for the sake of beauty. It's selfish and inhumane. Period. The wobble is not "cute," and bad spiders can end up with head trauma or even end up biting itself. It should NOT be popular, and it should NOT be praised. This is where conservation and recognition stops and selfish human desire takes over. Spiders may be "pretty" but they are NOT worth hurting the snake at their own risk. Champagnes, Super Cinnamons, Black Super Pastels, Super Spiders and other damaging and lethal combinations are just bad. You know it's dangerous when Super Spider is literally lethal. It is NOT a good thing to hurt the snake for the sake of a pretty pattern! They aren't art or toys! They're pets and companions. They're animals. This is cruel. PERIOD.
@paulj.l.96966 жыл бұрын
unethical to breed this morph. it has neurological issues.

SJ L so has hgw, sable, woma, power ball, scaleless..... what about other morphs with problems like super cinnamon, super lesser, super black Pastel, desert...... should we not breed them?
@rickardrakkoon25006 жыл бұрын
Balls2U no, ethically you shouldn't. not trying to "stir the pot" or troll. It's a proven, preventable neurological disorder. Knowingly breeding it just because it's "pretty" is honestly cruel and very narcissistic.
@Balls2U6 жыл бұрын
Rickard Rakkoon it's never been proven by anyone if so can you send me the link.... I have spiders with no wobble or any problems.
