This is legit! With the wood frame and then brought out the router. Real professional work here, seen some other rookie KZbin videos, not high quality like this. 👍

I was wondering if you could help me. I am at the point where I have to trim the edges, I bought the router but not sure what but to get and how to set up the router. Can you go into more detail?

Great stuff. Two quick questions: I see you caulking the edges of the frame before the epoxy pour. Best way to prevent it dripping o side of table? 2nd: The epoxy you used doesn't need any sanding or buffing? Thx…love the channel
@clintbrownwoodworking73075 ай бұрын
There is a bar top epoxy that just drips over the edge, but it's not the cleanest finish. I found that the caulk works well for a lot of projects, but I've used clear packing tape for some other applications. No sanding or buffing for that epoxy, but I like to do small pours to minimize bubbles!

Getting ready to do this with my Jordan cards. Any helpful do's or don't do's? How is it holding up?
@clintbrownwoodworking73072 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome, man! It looks like it did the day I built it. The biggest thing I can suggest is go thin on the mod podge and lightly sand, and wet wipe. You want to make sure all of that air inside the cards is sealed really good to prevent bubbles when you do the epoxy pour. I like to check the epoxy at about 15 minutes and again at 2-4 hours for bubbles. Good luck!

What’s on your wood box to prevent the epoxy from sticking

@@clintbrownwoodworking7307 another question how long after did you add the 2nd layer ? And did you wait till the first coat harden?
@clintbrownwoodworking73073 жыл бұрын
@@patrickwilson7371 I let it mostly harden. It sit for about 2 days, but it really depends on your climate. In theory you could do your pours close together, but I wanted to make sure the base layer was really sealed to prevent bubbles in the main flood. Then let the final pour cure for 72+ hours before taking your mold off. Good luck!

Did the mod pod get protect the cards so the ink doesn’t blur overtime?
@clintbrownwoodworking73072 жыл бұрын
The ink should definitely not blur from moisture or table use, but it may still be susceptible to fading from UV light. I didn’t use super valuable cards (that I know of) and don’t keep it in a super sunny room just in case.

Did you sand down the mod podge with like a 400grit before the epoxy? Did you have problems with streaking, my mod podge looks like it has streaks in it, does the epoxy finish mask that issue?
@clintbrownwoodworking73072 жыл бұрын
Keep going! I did not lightly sand the mod podge at all and the epoxy completely hid the streaks. Be sure to pour a very thin layer of epoxy first and let it set before doing your main flood. That will ensure you get all those bubbles out that those streaks could cause. Shoot me an email of your finished product! contact@clint-brown.com

It’s two-part ProMarine, which is a 1:1 ratio product! Zero fog and the bubbles came out super easy.

How long did this entire process take? can it be done in an afternoon?
@clintbrownwoodworking73073 жыл бұрын
It took me about 2-3 days! The actual work isn't difficult, but it's a lot of waiting for the Mod Podge and epoxy layers to dry. It also depends on your climate. Thanks for watching.

Did you have to sand the edges after routing? If so how does the epoxy hold up to sandpaper?
@clintbrownwoodworking7307 Жыл бұрын
I used a very high grit (1200+) just to take off a slight edge. If you use anything much lower, you’ll risk scratching the epoxy. It doesn’t need much!
@googs81 Жыл бұрын
What were you using to wipe down the mod podge?
@clintbrownwoodworking7307 Жыл бұрын
The ModPodge dries practically clear, but I took some steel wool to it to reduce some of the streaks left behind when drying. A quick wipe down with a damp paper towel to get any lingering dust then it’s ready for the epoxy, which will hide any remaining streaks!
