I know this one is not going to be a "top click-getter" for the channel but I really wanted to feature this one as this game taps into a part of my life in a way that most games don't. :) If you love baseball and solo games, definitely check this one out! Happy Gaming! Greg

I am also a huge baseball fan and I remember playing a game called APBA Baseball that involved pitching, hitting and fielding stats! Living in Reading we get to see AA ball. I also remember seeing the Oriels at the old War Memorial stadium as a kid. I guess Shoeless Joe Rose was banned from the deck for life??? Thanks again for a fun stream, Greg!

Awesome! And funny about poor Shoeless but he might be in one of the expansions…along with Pete Rose. 🤣 As kids, my brother and I played an electronic game called Sports Talk Baseball that we had a ton of fun with.

@@SoloPlaythroughshere's my nostalgia game. I used to crush the computer scoring over 100 runs. The unit would get confused after ninety -nine and say things like "ten-ty three to one". Bilbo Baggins style kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWG0e3uIj6h0m7ssi=jfze1zO2-0CopUYb

Such an enthusiastic commentor makes all the difference :D Very nice to watch you play and comment this one. Really got to get my copy out again and try score some runs. Thank you very much for the video.

Great and fun playthrough. I've been curious about this game, but never pulled the trigger on it. Thanks!

Thanks, Andrew! I was the same way with the game for a while and then had a chance to pick it up in a math trade. Really glad I did!

Yeah, I'll watch another one. I'm a baseball fan from the womb; I'm still not sure the narrative this game produces makes any sense but I dig the energy. Bonus story: I was at a Jeopardy tryout a few years ago. You have to rattle off interesting things about yourself; I mentioned having too many games. Turns out one of the top prospects was a serious collector/scholar of baseball board games, and I ended up in a long conversation about them. Having witnessed this tedious discussion, obviously Jeopardy didn't take either of us

What a fun story, Alfred! Sucks you didn’t get on Jeopardy! though. 🙂

Thanks, doooominic! I totally agree - it’s really fun to turn over the roster over the course of the game while trying to build a balanced team.

I've played quite a bit of this, only two player though... We don't get baseball here in Denmark, and watching you play I realize we've been running the wrong way around 😁 (i.e. we've been going clockwise as I guess it seemed natural for a board game). I do want to get it to the solo table, after watching this 😎

Hey Jens! Going clockwise really would make so much more sense, right!? 🙂 I just recently incorporated the expansions into some games with my family and I am likely to film another playthrough sometime this summer. Thanks for the comment!

So... I know some little bits of baseball. But the scoring though. Like no idea there. I'll see what I can learn from this video :) And seriously, reading through the comments before I started watching, yeah it sounds like you had a lot of fun, and that's the most important thing I enjoy. I still clicked the thumbs up anyway :)

Also, I knew you were into baseball by the background when you do your live playthroughs. From memory, there's a baseball jigsaw you've mounted, and I'm thinking a pennant or two if I recall.

Hey, Josh! The scoring's the easiest part! There are three bases and "home plate". You essentially need to touch them all without getting tagged out. Every player that does = one run. So the most runs you can get in a single play is 4. (If you hit a ball over the fence, you touch them all and get a run for yourself...plus one for every player that was on the base paths when you hit the home run.) And no doubt about the baseball shrine behind me; there are two jig saw puzzles, a couple fan giveaways from playoff games I went to a few years back, and a few bobbleheads. :)

At the end you mention Football highlights, it is a good game and I enjoy it but definitely falls a bit short of this one.

Thanks for sharing the opinion about Football Highlights! I'd be curios to play it at some point but I wouldn't have nearly the same level of connection to it. :)

Eagle Gryphon has terrible customer service. I bought Spring Training and then some expansion decks and they were different sizes. I can tell which cards coming are from the expansions because of it and when I emailed them, they told me it was a known issue but tough luck. I will no longer buy games from them.

Sorry you had that experience, grog. I sleeved my cards for this game which is why I’m guessing I never noticed there’s a difference. Unfortunately, it’s a somewhat common problem in the industry, even for bigger publishers. Fantasy Flight (Arkham LCG), WizKids (Mage Knight), and Greater Than Games (Spirit Island) all have noticeable differences between cards from the base game and certain expansions.
