I have to say, all your hitting videos have been awesome, as someone with no formal instruction and just a love for the game and to play. I've been using your videos as a guide to help coach my little league kids until they can get formal and more professional instruction. Thank you.

yeah i have a question what is your opinion on scissor our back leg like jose altuve

Mostly squishing the bug is only rotating on the back side but what you need to do is pick your back heel a tad, then rotate, if you only rotate your hips are gone and you're pulling out

I have a quick question. When I was hitting with my coach, he said that after my swing, my back foot should not be on the tip of my shoe. Instead, he suggested to squish the bug. Just wanted to here your input on whether or not I'm right or he's wrong.

+Baseball Bro #15 Thanks for the question, sorry it's been a while since I could get back to you! To answer your question, as long as the parameters in this video are met, the rotation is fine. There are a lot of high level hitters that get to the tip of your shoe as you mentioned. One of the big issues that can come with that though is lunging at the ball, but as long as you're maintaining good flexion in your back leg, you will be fine. So without physically seeing your swing, it would be tough to tell you what he's telling you is right or wrong, but if you're looking to make sure your game is in check, make sure that at bare minimum, the checkpoints in this video are matching your swing. Whether your on your toes or on the tips of your toes, it's the proper rotation that matters! Hope this helps! Good Luck out there! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

Pro Speed Baseball What if the top of my toe on my back foot touches the ground when I rotate. Not the tip of my toes, the top. My weight is mostly in my front leg when I do this.

Your coach is correct... squash the bug downward....if your heel is up too early then your weight will go forward... I pivit my knee in towards my other knee while squashing downward.... After the end of the swing the heel will go up... which is fine...

Hello! So I've played baseball from age 3 to 12, then took a 3 year break, but I'm playing again (I'm 15 now). I played this last season and felt really comfortable already. My coach tells me that I'm wrapping around though and that I'm not "punching the ball", how do I stop from wrapping around the ball?

Pro players front feet roll over and the back foot drags or lifts because of the force they place on their front bracing leg....which causes the hips to explode in a rotational manner and the back foot has to follow. So linear energy into rotational energy increases POWER! Go To www.trainwiththeking.com/#theory to learn more!

This is a very good video except for one thing. "Squash the bug" is terrible terminology and should not be used! It communicates to young players that their back foot should do exactly what is not being taught here. When a kid squashes a real bug with his foot, his heel stays low. If you tell a kid to "squash the bug", that is exactly what he will do. If you have to qualify your terminology, as must be done here beginning at 6:50, you should just come up with better terminology. In our high school fastpitch softball program, which includes multiple state championship teams, we quit using this term 15 years ago.

DO NOT PUT THE FRONT FOOT DOWN FIRST, STOP, THEN START AGAIN AFTER SUCH HARMFUL STOP.
