I like the Beast in the orignal story, he's kind and miled manner. Other than just being an abusive prick in the Disneyfied version. The story's message is learning to accept one's personilty than judging appearances. Not just some woman's fantasy of taming the beast

The orignal story of Beauty and the Beast had way much better moral, that it's not what's on the outside but the inside, not about a woman's fantasy about changeing you're man's personality.
@ForeignTongues7 жыл бұрын
Will Lyon Belle didn't change the Beast. Belle brought out the side of him that no one else saw. No one else saw it for so long because he let himself become like his father. Belle brought out the best in him, made him feel like a human again, not a cursed spoiled brat who followed his father's footsteps. She did not change him. She brought him back. Gave him a life worth living. Gave him hope and love. She saw what others did not. She saw Adam. Not a beast.

Oh dang this is the abridged version this is not the complete full story the unabridged version is way more complicated and weirder but in a good way in the original villeneuve's version "The Beast, a prince, lost his father at a young age. His mother had to wage war to defend his kingdom, and left him in the care of a rather evil fairy. This fairy attempted to seduce him as the prince became an adult. When he refused, she transformed him into the beast until someone would agree to marry him without knowing his past or that he was intelligent. In a neighboring kingdom, Beauty is the daughter of a king and a different fairy. Beauty's mother broke the laws of fairy society by falling in love with a human, so she was sentenced remain in the fairy land and Beauty was sentenced to marry a hideous beast when she grew up. After Beauty's mother disappeared from earth, the evil fairy unsuccessfully attempted to take Beauty's life and marry her father. Beauty's aunt, another good fairy, intervened and changed Beauty's place with the dead daughter of a merchant for Beauty's protection, then placed the Beast in a magically hidden castle until Beauty grew up."

Though the part about Gaston and the Enchanted objects were actually inspired by the John Cocteau version in the 1940s, which other than the fairytale, this film was the other inspiration to the Disney film. Interestingly originally Beauty and the Beast was supposed to be more closer to the fairytale when they did a story-reel when George Purdum was originally director.

I loved's andrzej sapkowski take on what I believe to be a version of this story. Basically some rich kid got involved with with bad people and eventually ended up being cursed by some sorceress, turning him into a tusked bear monster. He still kept his humanity however, and through strange circumstances(I think that he saved a merchant or somethin'), he ended up being a guardian for unwedded virgins in a magical house and a vampire girlfriend. It's pretty complicated, just read "the last wish"

I really enjoy both Disney's and the original version of the story. I like how in the original story Beast made his feelings known and although Beauty thought him to be kind and gentle, she just couldn't get past his appearance. I think it makes the moment when she realizes she loves him even more special. However, the originality of the characters in the Disney version makes the story even more fun and special as well. Both are awesome in their own ways!

Sibling rivalery is quiet commmon in these stories, the older siblings are envious of the hero or heroine's good fortune and fail to attempt to performe several tasks because of their selfishness and idleness, and of cource suffer horrible fates. WOAH, TAKE THAT MOMENT WHEN BEAUTY'S FATHER IS LEAVING AND ASKING HIS DAUGHTERS GIFTS... In the live action, (yes, the new movie) before Maurice leaves, he asks Belle what will he bring home. *SHE ASKS FOR A ROSE*. But a WHITE rose so.... close enough? Belle said he always brings her a rose every year. So, as promise, Maurice will give Belle a white rose when he comes back home. At the Beast's castle, he dosen't know who is the owner and since it was winter *IN JUNE* he felt chilly. So inside he saw some food that he thought it was his because for the damn hospitality, and obviously, since there were magical talking houseware there, Chip moves and.... *OBVIOUSLY SCARES HIM AND RUNS AWAY THE CASTLE DUHHHHH* He almost forgot but luckily not, Belle's requested rose. So he saw some roses (white) and he picked *JUST ONE* and just about to go away the castle until the Beast shows up and *THROWS MAURICE INTO THE DUNGEON AND BELLE TRIED TO RESCUE HIM AND BLA BLA BLA* (so clearly the similarity there.... is just..... I can't mostly explain you can see it)

Beauty & the Beast is one of my favorite Disney movies as well, and I am so glad that the live action preserved the story of the animated movie. I suspect that the original fairytale was based on the myth of Eros and Psyche. Psyche's beauty arose the jealousy of the goddess, Aphrodite who sent her son, Eros to make her fall in love with the homeliest looking man he could find. However, he fell in love with her. Eros was called the beast neither the gods nor men could resist.

Every non-Disney version I have read of this fairy tale, Belle was basically forced to stay at the castle or else either her father or herself would be slain. Every video I have seen supposedly covering the origins of this fairytale has avoided mentioning this at all and how this colors the relationship that develops between the Beast and Belle over time being akin to stockholme syndrome with Beast trying to buy Belle's affection and love with wonderful gifts.
@ChelseatheCreativeFox-pc2xz3 жыл бұрын
I know, I read through the tale myself again before and when I read that the Beast will kill Beauty's family if she doesn't stay at his castle. The book established that he was kind and mild-mannered and yet he went off telling that he'll do that? That's a wrong turn coming out of him. 😬😬😬😬😬

Doesn't it take about a month to starve to death? (Granted, the beast wasn't, obviously, human, but the concept is the same). @carissacarlson14187 жыл бұрын
Well, in this version, there isn't. But in the very origanal version (since the version he talked about was basically an abridged version of the origanal), the Beast's mother was a fairy warrior queen, who went off to defend her kingdom. She left him with an ancient fairy nanny while she was gone. As the Beast grew up, the nanny found him rather hot, proposing to the teenaged prince. Obviously turned off by someone who he saw as a grandmother having the hots for him, he refused the offer. Angered by this, she transformed him into a beast as punishment for turning her down. So yeah, he was turned into a beast because an old woman wanted fuck him. 🤢
