It is just sad that there is a stigma when something is overrated or too mainstream some people are overwhelmed and thinks the thing doesn't have substance in it. When in fact the lyrics has a beautiful meaning and relatable when someone is in toxic relationship. And besides of that the lot of effort and work that was put into this kind of songs.

Lots of requests for you to check out the Coachella 2019 "DDU DU DDU DU" which you should def do at some point after checking out the original song m/v. But I'd suggest checking out the m/vs and some b-sides from their latest album "Born Pink". There's a lot more English in it, with at least half of each of the songs being in English, especially the raps. And they do drop some nice bars in their raps so be on the look out for that. Anyway, check out "Shut Down", "Pink Venom" and "Typa Girl". The last one is a bar heavy b-side so check out a color coded lyric video to catch all the bars in that song even though it's all in English.

I assume someone's already mentioned that K-pop isn't a genre but an industry. You can find Korean artists at the top of their game doing hip-hop. rap, jazz, R&B, grunge, punk, folk, EDM, ballads, anything you can think of. Individual groups like BTS will often span multiple genres depending on their mood.

Smart move making that "play list" of bands and groups you're going to want to check out there. Their KZbin channel - www.youtube.com/@BLACKPINK/featured - you may find some of their previous, '19, Coachella performances there - and you may also find them with a YT search. There is quite a bit of variety in their work, so maybe try a few other tracks - I would suggest their recent work from "Pink Venom" - before finally deciding it you want to catch them live or not. If you still decide to give them a pass, it's 😎👍, if a little surprising - but then we all have very different music tastes. You may remember back in '19 when Arianna Grande set all those KZbin viewing and download records for "Thank You, Next", records that many thought wouldn't be broken for a long time to come? This is the M/V that broke all Miss Grande's records the following week... In turn, THE worlds biggest group (Blackpink is 'only' the second biggest), BTS* broke them all a week later. *As I said, tastes differ - BTS doesn't do it for me, but I do understand why they're so popular.

Yeah, if you continue listening to BLACKPINK and kpop, you'll find that kpop in general definitely tries to be mainstream. It's pop, it's meant to be trying to appeal to the masses. That said, BLACKPINK probably has the best production overall and sounds the most like NA and European pop, with a lot of pop, EDM and trap influence. So yeah, I think you'd continue to like em but it might never really impact you significantly if your tastes are just against mainstream.

The lyrics in both of these songs are very deep and personal to her and are much slower, laid back than your typical Blackpink hits
