For those that don't know that is Russ Abner. He is a very good trainer and cutman. He has trained guys like David Lemieux, Oleksander Usyk, Otis and Howard Grant. Has worked the corner of guys like Roy Jones Jr., Jean Pascal, Chad Dawson and Deontay Wilder. He is also the founder of Rival Boxing, which makes awesome gear.

I personally like the slip to the left. I call this "The Angle of Evasion", because if you can get outside of his right side (If he is an orthodox fighter), he has to keep turning to the left to re-adjust to your position. You can do a lot with this angle with the straight right hand: 1.) Opponent throws Straight Right --> Outside Slip, Left Head Hook 2.) Opponent throws Straight Right --> Outside Slip while throwing Overhand Right at same time 3.) Opponent throws Straight Right --> Outside Slip, Left Body Hook, Left Head Hook Those would be the tactics I would go with.

I'd like to see someone actual pull that last defence off in a real fight. It is too complex, you have to change directions of the movement of your hand. Better to just knock there right hand down and to your right with your left hand in a short and sharp movement.

i don't know how i feel about catching the right hand with your left hand...gives them an opportunity to disguise a right hook as a right hand, then you come out to catch it and boom, get knocked with a right hook

that third methode is dangerous in boxing your arms is to far from your shoulders/face and when your apponent has handspeed then you got big problem
@rubenaerts29286 жыл бұрын
Ward and lomachenko do it 2. Wouldn't try it myself, but if you are at the right distance, in the right position, it's very effective. Swing his hand away, and with the same movement hook him before his hands returns.
