Great video, also can you let me know what BX connectors you are using?
@brainyhands11 ай бұрын
Thank You! I am using regular BX connectors. If I was using MC cable, then I would be using MC connectors as well.

Nicely done. Rotate the mud ring 180° on the box on the right. You did it correctly on the other box.

Where we wire we do not use BX cable, we use MC Cable which has the proper size and green equipment grounding conductor and similar installation. Great illustration of BX installation none the less.

We use BX cable within NYC. Outside the city boroughs, we use Romex also. Thank you, Kevin!

Good video. I see you join three cables at the first box and you leave one neutral and one hot free. Why?
@brainyhands Жыл бұрын
Check this out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5rYqmN6i8aafqc. Those are called pig-tails, pieces of wire where you hook up your future outlet. White to the neutral, black to the power, and the green to the ground.

Would have been better without the music.

yes, but it would also sound boring with the spontaneous sounds in the background :)

@@brainyhands where do you buy the BX cable??
@brainyhands Жыл бұрын
The Home Depot or Electrical Supply Store

We don't build hauses out of wood here, common materials are bricks and concrete. The unshielded cable is cooled by the walls, if it burns, it is when it goes outside of a wall.

Could you explain the purpose of the small aluminum wire you wrapped around the BX? Is this wire considered the ground, or does it serve another purpose?
@brainyhands3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is considered the ground. The bx cover also serves as the ground. Thnx for watching!
@lxxs3v3nxxl2 жыл бұрын
@@brainyhands do you have to wire it that way with the ground attached to the bx itself?
@brainyhands2 жыл бұрын
@@lxxs3v3nxxl bx cover serves as ground; the thin aluminum wire which we use to tighten the red bushing also serves as ground; the green pigtail attached to the box serves as ground, so in a metallic BX cover that runs from the panel all the way to the outlet/switch box, serves as ground. Then the panel itself, of course, it’s grounded according to the electrical code.
