I’m a 21 year old who’s first language is English, but even now grammar is still something I have to practice on. If you are learning English do not feel discouraged. I’ve met plenty of people who, although they get confused with certain phrases, speak and write more properly than I do. It amazes and motivates me to improve on my native language. Keep learning!

I am English and just failed the test at the end! We were not taught the rules of grammar at school (long time ago) Now I have moved to Austria and need to learn German. Learning a new language formally is very difficult if you don't have the basic rules, so back to school for me! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly! "Two negative words make the sentence positive" Most native speakers also make this mistake...like you hear them say "you don't know nothing"...and what they actually meant was "you know nothing" but the correct meaning of this sentence is "you know something". So i think native speakers(especially in movies) should be careful on how they construct their sentences and don't confuse the English learners.

@elliem79124 жыл бұрын
@@A.P.O-piz Sorry, I know this is not a video. You put a comma wherever you would take a pause if you were reading the sentence out loud.
@hobinugget85234 жыл бұрын
@@A.P.O-piz You should always use a comma if you are saying a two part sentence. For example (without comma): While I was laying down on my bed my mother came in. For example (with comma): While I was laying down on my bed, my mother came in. You can see that the one without comma have a long sentence. To fix that, when it sounds like you are finishing half of your sentence. Add a comma. You should also uses it when you are listing of two or more items. For example: She wanted a dog who is white, big, and fluffy. I hope this helps since I am sometimes not good at explaining.

@@kingzucski8027 Well “your” is a possessive pronoun. “You’re” is just a contraction form of ‘you are’. So, the answer is that the better way to say it is, close your door.
