My gratitude for helping me to be "a more active viewer" from now on, I will watch films as they really are, as "a whole" Everything is important: editing, art, music and sound, acting, writing, as well as directing or directors. Thanks so much.

Amazing. I am sad to see that the video has not a lot of views. But let me tell you whoever watches this video ends up becoming an enormously informed person. Could you please make a video on how a film analysis can be conducted with a focus on one or two major themes in the movie? How would that analysis be different from a thematic analysis of a novel?

How does one get better at recognizing these film elements in a film during a first watch through? I try to analyze films and sometimes I feel like I get it but other times I am completely lost and shot sizes and editing techniques mean nothing to me.
@druhi34372 жыл бұрын
you'll have to watch it at least a good 3 times ,, you shouldn't particularly force an analysis, take time
@TheGarnetObsidian Жыл бұрын
Tarantino watches films at least three times during an opening weekend. The first viewing informs the general themes and plot, the second viewing highlights more technique, the third is for enjoyment. Plenty of videos on YT and books on the technical aspects of filmmaking. Enjoy🤗

@@TheGarnetObsidian I'd say the first watch should be about enjoyment. You can never watch it again like watching it for the first time.

Protagonist is not synonymous with Main Character. Main Character is who the audience is suppose to identify with. In Shawshank Redemption Morgan Freedman is the Main Character because he is the one telling us the story. He is the one we enter the film through. Tim Robbins is the Protagonist. Also a Hero is a type of character with certain traits. Not all Protagonists are Heros just like not all Protagonists are the Main Character Antagonist isn't synonymous with bad guy or villain. They are the ones driving the conflict and driving the Protagonist to achieve their goal. Don't forget in your film analysis the Major Dramatic Question and how and when it was answered and whether it was earned or not.

There are only so many people you can include in an eight minute video my friend! I simply cannot fit all the greats in a single intro video. I also make an effort to include female filmmakers in all of my videos.
