i would add only 1 item a good camping version of a leatherman, or swiss army knife. ( multitools).

You specifically say a carbon steel knife, why carbon specifically?

A lot of reasons. A Carbon Steel knife can be used with a hard rock to make a fire and it's easier to sharpen.

@@BurningRiverBushcraft fair enough, never tried the rock and knife method but I assume it's basically a flint and steel situation? I do hear a lot about carbon being easier to sharpen but I'm not convinced on that one, I have mainly stainless blades and I just strop them regularly and they stay shaving sharp, rarely go near a stone. I carry a lighter also. A ferro rod works when it's wet, windy and cold.

Yeah the reusable space blankets don't pack as nice after the first use. My used ones usually have duct tape corners after the grommets fail.
