Exactly. I can't stand the livestream classes, where they say hello to everyone and answer a zillion beauty school questions (not that I'm opposed to education). It's nice to just watch a vid and refresh one's approach someone else's way, sometimes. Saves time. I did this cut today for my coworker. She had a shattered Bob but damage from styling so we needed to add layers. The result is a beautiful shape. I loved cutting the length last.. So smart! I have gone to 3 different hair dressers. Mine moved away. I brought in pictures of how I had my bob. Not one of them did anything remotely close. I'm so grateful I found your channel. Just keep looking, because this is classic training and most hairdressers I know can cut this bob. Bobs are the standard and the cuts we probably practice the MOST, as pros.

@@sf8290 Hey! this is a great option for fine hair. If your client has super fine i would recommend cutting a square line. Layers could remove to much weigh if the hair is too fine. Cutting a line with high tension will create a little graduation in the shape, making it feel like the shape has a little movement.

I was wondering the same. It does make a difference. Because if you do it before then you will have to cut those layers all the way down to the perimeter. When doing it after putting layers in it’s only half layered. Don’t get me wrong, it is a beautiful haircut and he did an excellent job. But it does make a difference James.

Can see why it's been your favorite for a long time - you've nailed the precision needed to create perfect shaping, volume & soft sexy swing. And explaining in detail how to do it is very helpful, especially for students. It's almost like listening to a doctor explain proper brain surgery, lol! 😉 Not many stylists on YT are this kind & considerate :)

I think I might like this cut but longer. Like where the baseline is at the base of the neck? My hair is fine so I’m concerned that layering would take away from making the baseline looking thick, but I need some volume especially towards the top of my head.

My hair is naturally curly/wavy and is past midway down my back so I am thinking that cutting it would take a lot of weight out of it, thus making it fuller? In the past when I have cut it it seems like I got more volume. Wish you were in Kentucky! Thx ❤️

@@HairByJamesAnnabel I got it cut 2 days ago. Love it!! Having to get the hang of styling it but it’s a fun haircut. Stylist recommended a perm. He said breaking the bonds in the hair would make the hairs thicker? Maybe I’m not explaining it right but I’m a little in the fence about it. I didn’t think it was a good idea for ppl with fine hair to get perms. Going to have to research that I guess. But anyway thanks for the great videos. Love my haircut!

Hey Sarah, you can use any large size curling iron. I used a cheap VS (Vidal Sassoon) 38mm. Stay tuned for tutorials where i teach this styling technique
