Not to mention how Usagi is a cancer aka a water sign the opposite of fire which is why I think her and sailor Mars bump heads a lot which I think it’s so funny and also I read about Artimis who is a God of the moon it’s so cool how Greek mythology also plays apart of sailor moon and other more character names 🌙🪐

Don't forget that the Greek equivalent to the Roman god Jupiter was Zeus. Zeus commanded the skies and the storms and wielded the thunderbolt as his weapon. That's why Sailor Jupiter controls lightning. Jupiter and Sagittarius are also known for their independence and they rule over sports and games- Makoto is known for being a bit of a tomboy. Being tall is another defining trait of hers and Jupiter is the planet that makes things bigger. So yeah, lots of interesting symbolism going on. I'm a Cancer Sun/Moon with Libra Rising. So I come across like Minako but underneath I'm a mushy, intuitive Sailor Moon haha XD

Yeah, that's true - because the signs have many characteristics of the planets they are associates with. I mostly see the planets as the base energy/vibe and then each sign has its own essential traits. I hope you enjoy my video about it!

Wonderful video, and thank you for taking the time to make it! I am a Piscean, but I think I have reveled in its destructive and resurrecting nature of it, because Sailor Saturn is my favourite. Love meeting fellow moonies out here 😄 I never realized growing up that Japanese mythology is different from western mythology in some ways, but now it obviously makes sense! Sailor Saturn and Pluto had their powers swapped so it may be worth seeing sailor Saturn from the astrological lens of Pluto and see Pluto through Saturn's astrological lens

I will attempt to add some connections between the characters and astronomical facts about the planets: - Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system, reflecting how Ami is the shortest of the inner senshi. - Mercury has water/ice in some permanently shadowed areas. Sailor Mercury has water/ice themed attacks. - Venus rotates in the opposite direction compared to other planets, making it a bit of an "odd-one-out" among the rocky planets. It's kind of how Minako is the odd-one-out due to being a scout one year before all the other inners. - Venus is also the second brightest celestial in the night sky after the moon, just as Minako is Usagi's second-in-command. - Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system, which is reflected by Minako's passion, drive, beauty and "Love Me Chains", which look like heated metal. -The fact that Earth is our home planet reflects how Mamoru is "closer to earth" than Usagi and also the most "basic" looking and acting (no fancy uniforms/weapons/gadgets, just a tuxedo/crane/mask/roses). - Mamoru wishes to be a doctor, i.e., to study and maintain human life. Earth is the only planet known to harbour life. - The moon has spots that many people see as resembling rabbits. Usagi is also known as "Bunny". -The moon is the only natural satellite of Earth.This is similar to Usagi's and Mamoru's unbreakable love. - Mars has two moons, Phobos and Demios, which are also the names of Rei's crows. - Mars is red because it's covered in oxidised iron. Sailor Mars's outfit is red. - Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system, just like Makoto is the tallest and strongest inner senshi and also has the most "talent" (hehe). - The gravitational field of Jupiter also shielded Earth from many meteorites, reflecting how protective Makoto is. - Sailor Jupiter is the strongest inner senshi, having its power closer to an outer. This makes sense because most outers, along with SJ are based on gas/ice giants that are huge when compared to the rocky planets. - Saturn has a bit of a history of destroying its moons (in fact, its rings are theorized to be the remains of destroyed moons). What is Sailor Saturn best known for? - Hotaru's sailor uniform has puffier sleeves as compared to the other senshi. Maybe a nod to Saturn's massive rings? - Uranus also rotates in the opposite direction compared to other planets and spins horizontally as opposed to vertically (around its axis), making it the "odd-one-out" among the planets. Haruka can be seen as an "odd-one-out" due to her masc presentation. - Uranus (as well as Neptune) are the coldest planets in the solar system, reflecting Haruka and Michiru's initial coldness in regards to the inners. - Neptune is very similar to Uranus in size, composition, and coloration while also being commonly paired together (in fact Neptune was discovered mathematically before being seen by examining Uranus's erratic orbits). This is similar to Haruka and Michiru's close relationship, as they are almost always seen together. - Neptune is an ice giant while also having the strongest winds in the solar system (like how Sailor Neptune uses overwhelming tidal wave attacks). - Michiru is also the most traditionally feminine of the Scouts and diamonds are associated with femininity ("diamonds are a girl's best friend"). This is fitting, as Neptune has diamond rain. - Pluto is the outmost celestial of the Solar System reflecting Setsuna's aloof, detached personality as well as her job of being a timekeeper (like she is guarding the "entrance" to our Solar System). - The tip of Sailor Pluto's staff is hearth shaped, similar to a spot on its namesake dwarf planet. - As a bit of irony, her Cloverfield dub name "Trista" translates to "sad"; guess she is "sad" over Pluto being demoted to a dwarf planet >|( .

When the creator made sailor moon in the 90s, we didn’t have a clear picture of the planet Pluto, so decades later when we got a clear picture of Pluto we saw the heart shape on it, which is just so perfect because like you said her staff has a heart on the top.

She's called Chibi Chibi (or Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon) and is Sailor Cosmos from the future, disguised as a small child. Her story really differs between the Manga and Anime though, so you can read up on that! :D

That's a good question, and my first impulse is to say that she is the moon as well and represents sort of the shadow/unlived part of Usagi. Not quite the inner child, but something similar. Maybe that's a direction you could think in?

@@AnyaEsma I think that's definitely my case. Chibiusa to me is something like a blend of a representation of the child and the shadow self, carrying the burden of past traumas. I see her this way, also from the observation of the relationship that the Usagi and her have in the story.
