My sister finished salon school, practiced and taught me everything she knows about cutting hair. This gentleman demonstrates the correct way to establish a guide and follow the cut and contour of the head. I am cutting male hair today---and panicked, searched for a refresher course. This is an excellent tutorial, as he cuts hair exactly as I was taught.

My husband needed to get his hair cut for work tmr and by the time we had time to go to the barber, they were all closed. There's no way he goes to work with his hair that long so I came to KZbin and binged watched every bit of this video. I told him I'll cut his hair for him and he agreed. I followed the instructions religiously and we did it! His hair is good for work tmr and it actually looks better than some of the hair cuts he got previously from some random barbers. Thank you so much for sharing this video! 😊

I just wanted to say a big thank you. I watched this video and the one using clippers before cutting my own hair yesterday. It went better than I ever imagined! Using scissors in front of a mirror was impossible so I used the clippers to cut the hair I trapped between my fingers. Tips for anyone who has to cut their own hair: - Set everything out beforehand (and make sure your clippers are fully charged - oops) - Ideally do it in a bathroom with somewhere you can sweep up the hair afterwards - Your t-shirt and socks are going to get hairy. Be prepared. - Put on some chill beats. At some point you will cut off more than expected and want to freak out. Relax dude. - Keep re-applying water if its hard to grip between your fingers - You have all the time in the world. You can always go shorter, but you can't go longer. Good luck.

This is awesome! I wanted to learn the basics of mens hair cuts and they used 3 or 4 different clippers! I just need to know how to do this myself for the boys in my family. I dont have the skills of a barber. Your tutorials wher very clear and I understood what you where saying. This covid 19 thing has our family barber closed, plus every other barber in town is closed to! I cant do lines and all the extra sets of clippers they have, they also went to school to learn how to do all of that. I have a pair of clippers and a pair of sharp scissors and that is it! You made it simple to learn your techniques. It is much better than trying to figure it all out. I thank you so very much for keeping it basic I appreciate you!

Due to this Covid crap I've been looking to cut my own hair I've scouted through about 10+ videos and this is the best of the lot. What is easy for a hairdresser is not easy for an amateur most of the tutorials on here are rushed but this really is step by step. I know one thing I now appreciate the skill involved to cut hair given that no 2 heads are the same. I've clippered the sides and most people at work think I've done a good job but now I'm not sure how to blend the top in with scissors.Ill give this a go.

Thanks for the great instruction! As a suggestion it might help if you wore a light colored shirt since it can be hard to see dark or wet hair against a dark background. Then you can use a wider array of angles. Nice video. Cheers!

I would like to see in depth how to do scissor over comb. When does one start to leave the head and go up? How does one position the fingers to keep the cutting accurate? What does one look for when cutting? When using a clipper, how does one keep the comb still so when moving the clipper across the comb, the clipper does not move more into the hair and cut it too short? Thank you for your great techniques because, even though these things can be simple, one needs to do them because it keeps it simple and one gets a better result. So thank you for pointing these steps out.
