BASIC SET-UP: EXCISION OF MASS ON A SCALP

I wasn't sure how big the mass was until patient came in so then you adjust accordingly. The preference card was also inaccurate so I wanted before I opened any sutures. I asked the surgeon what he wanted and he said he wanted some chromics. Seemed like he wasnt sure what needle so I offered him either sh or ps2. still kinda didnt ring a bell so i went ahead and grabbed some and showed him what the difference. ended up with ps2. communication guys.

Closing counts are called soft counts. You only count the "soft" stuff we call it so that's laps, rays, blades, needles, hypos, scratch pad, depending on the case, you could be counting booties, kittners, etc. It does not include instruments basically.
