What version of Solidworks should id get if i want to make a folding chair, then see if it actually folds in the program and also have ability to print things out? Should i use solidworks 3D CAD, Electrical, Technical communication, Simulation or Product data management?

Excellent video!! I have a drawing of a Flat Pattern. Is it possible to draw the Flat Pattern and then to bend to get the 3d model?

At 10:50 where he place the mouse on the line and it turns orange from black, and can then drag the line in. I dont have that option, my line doesnt turn orange, anyone had luck doing that? Someone who know why I cant?
@niveshandnisheeth9 жыл бұрын
+Morten Jørgensen There should be no problem at all just select the line and drag it is pretty straight forward.

Hello, i have a question, i work with sw2016 and when i do the same bij moving the setting tekst, and using the Arrow, it snaps to the midpoint of the line not to the endpoint. Do you know were the setting is to let is snap to the endpoint in stade of midpoint. Kind regradsmarc

I got an error coming up saying The bending allowance may be too small in the last part of sketching the bend line. What settings do i change to alter the bending allowance?
@niveshandnisheeth9 жыл бұрын
Dennis Danilov Please mention the exact video time where you are getting the problems...
@hyper_active_snail9 жыл бұрын
***** The error occurs at a 15:30 for me. Everything is smooth sailing up to that point. As soon as i hit the grin tick, it spits a dummy. =/
@niveshandnisheeth9 жыл бұрын
Dennis Danilov as I understand you are getting the problem in Sketched Bend dialogue box. In this dialogue box first you should define the fixed face, which the top face of the model, then define the material outside option as Bend position and bend angle must be 90 degree then click the green check mark.I am hopeful after applying these inputs you will not get the error you mentioned…

***** Thank you very much. In the end it was the Custom bend allowance tab i had not ticked that was causing the issue. Once ticked, i had set it to go off k factor and it worked like dream;) However, the next task of Unfolding the side threw a same Rebuild error. I had selected the fixed face and selected same bends to unfold as advised in the tutorial, it gave me the whole "The bend Allowance of this bend may be too small" rebuild error again!!! Frustrating!! something so simple yet it stopping my progress. In this case though, i can't set any bend allowances =/ Any suggestions

Your drawing shows the bend location (center), angle, and radius, but no flange length. It is very simple to call out the flange length of a 90 degree bend, but how is it done with a bend that is not 90 degrees? The drawing you made is very nice, but could not be used to manufacture the part since it does not call out flange lengths. Please help me with this. Thank you!

You are watching a CAD video this is provided by SolidWorks Help and we have converted it to video form. It is just a example with which you can learn how software is used. For designing fundamental and advance thing there should be another class and CAM software knowledge is required for that. So learn it from some designing class......We do not deal with CAM and manufacturing...and just providing knowledge to operate the software successfully.

Ah. This is why guys that actually MAKE the stuff hate "engineers." Just because you can model it doesn't mean that you can build it. Thank you for the reply...

Many a time you will find that manufacturing units can only tell what is possible to create and what settings should be given at the time of manufacturing..That is their secret and reason for success. On software you can create any precision and specified thing but when you consult manufacturing unit they will tell what specification costs and what is possible to create.

I know. But it is a very poor use of time and money to design something that cannot be practically manufactured. Then you have to go back an change the design based on the manufacturing process. I have the benefit of having experience in both fields, so I know what can be practically manufactured. My only question to you is how to call out a sheet metal flange length that is not 90 degrees. In order to form a sheet metal part, a press brake operator needs to know the finished flange length. Of course there are ways to calculate this measurement based on things like the material stretch, "K factor," and such, but the whole point of having modern machinery and software is to be able to bypass processes like that. I knew how to call out the flange lengths at one point; I just cannot recall how.
