Basic Transmitter Setup - Aura AFCS

This gives an overview using a Spektrum DX8 as an example on how to set-up a basic transmitter model for the Aura when setting up a New Model. The same technique can be used for other transmitters.
-Reset Model
-Adjust Aileron Elevator, and Rudder Travel to 125%
-Assign a 3-position swtich to change the CH5/Gear Data
-Optionally assign a proportional Tx Control to change the CH8/Aux3 data
-Name the Model
-Set a Timer as needed

If I want the option to have duel rates (in each of the 3 flight modes) due I go into the DUAL - RATE / EXPO option in the radio and assign it to a switch? .... and then I can make changes in Aura as needed.... or make rate and expo changes in the radio but later transfer them to aura or hand copy them into aura and reset the radio values to zero ...or to match what is in aura ?

Rates and expos should be done in the Aura.

@@FlexInnovations but how do you switch between low and high ? do you still assign a switch in the transmitter and then set the values in Aura rather than the radio ?

I am going to be installing one of these in a 7 foot wing span P-40 scale model. I am using a spektrum dx7 an currently use the gear switch for my retracts. I do have a 3 position flight mode switch. How will that affect setup?

The default flight mode channel is set to Ch.5 (gear channel on most radios) so that users with 5-channel radios can still use our system. That said, with today's modern radios, you can do 1 of 2 things: 1. Plug your retracts into a different channel - assign that channel to your normal gear switch, and assign Ch.5 to a secondary switch. OR 2. In the Aura Config Tool, tell the Aura to look for a different channel (like Aux 1 or Ch.6) for data to change the flight modes. Totally up to you in how you accomplish it - they do the exact same thing.

Generally speaking, there are a TON of different radios/receivers that the Aura is compatible with, and it would take years to cover every possible option... That said, if you are using the original DX-7 (one of the early 2.4 radios), your best bet is to talk with Spektrum about your radio in regards to reassigning channels and such. That is a very old radio, and we don't necessarily know the ins and outs of every radio. By default, Aura uses the gear channel (Ch.5) to change the flight mode. You can also tell Aura to look at any channel you desire using the Config Tool.
