What are the urban wind deflection vertical consequences . Does this wind deflection change , influence the speed of high altitude wind currents . The Jet Stream . Do they interact with each other ? How high does vertical urban winds reach into the sky ? Cities , towns etc. have wind currents . Watch snow fall with wind and with lights . The snow fall makes the wind currents plain . Some are heavy , some are stilled , some are directional but not all the time . Its fascinating to watch . From the second floor ( 3rd ) .

There is no Venturi Effect in Building Aerodynamics since the flow is not confined.

Correct. Still a useful analogy for the layman, in my opinion.

in theory you are right, but in practise we can approximate the funneling/tunneling effect when wind is blowing between 2 buildings by describing the Venturi effect, especial to clients or architect just to let them understand what is happening (I am a structural engineer and I often present to developers and architects).

@@MrHipergrass Yes, you can certainly perform the first-order approximation by using the Venturi effect and present it to clients and architects who do not understand the physics nor the complexity of the flow field in urban environments. However, that approach is incorrect. The flow field around bluff bodies, and especially in urban environments is a very complex topic and such an assumption from the physical point of view is an over-simplification. The problems are due to the wind-blocking effects arising from a rather complex flow field surrounding a single building (e.g. standing vortex in front of the building, vortex shedding, etc.) which causes the approaching wind to rather choose an "easier" path - around and over the building instead of going through the passage. Conversely, if the flow is confined (due to geometrical constraints such as the pipe flow with contraction), the approaching wind has no other option but to pass through the passage. Venturi Effect in Building Aerodynamics does not exist. This video is titled as Basic Urban Wind Effects. Hence, I am of an opinion that at least Basics should be presented correctly. Not publicly available I'm afraid - we used a number of OS libraries though, like OpenFOAM and blender for example.

So should we avoid tall buildings?

Not at all! Just be aware of how they influence the environment! There are also opportunities here e.g. urban micro wind turbines. And where the change in wind flow adversely affects human comfort and safety, it can be managed using a number of mitigating measures, from proper zoning (e.g. location of bike lanes, bus stops, ...) to landscaping and constructions (awnings, ...).

Design with void each 10 level . Usually owner don't like this design becouse reduce floor area . But for long term . This building more safety compare building no void hole . Every 10 level . Or civil engineer can avoid at level 41 and 42 . Level 81 Dan 82 Level 120 to 121 Level 160 To 161 . Normally every 40 level superheight building have 2 michenical floor This void hole Kan refuse weight factor from air . This method can refuse design load of building and foundation too
