Hi thanks for the vid. With gliders, i have the issue of always drifting to side of the runway. when trying to use rudders, i overcompensate and start doing a uturn on the runway. am i coming in too hot? Also, at which airport are you flying in this vid?

I suggest turning rudder sensitivity down. The most important thing is keeping wings level. If either wing tip touches the ground it will spin. Use your rudder for directional control and stick/yoke for keeping wings level. I think it was Anchorage airport but I don’t remember.

just click the yellow knob and the cable with release. Spoilers is the handle on the left. Gear is a lever too.

I thought it was your normal spoiler control. To get the tow plane to move wiggle rudder back and forth.

It will keep towing you as long as you stay behind it so the cable doesn’t break off.

It seems the uplift wind is not everywhere and live weather is buggy at the moment. MSFS servers are overwhelmed with the new update. Also the clouds don't match up with the uplift. I aim for the mountains but its hit or miss. Try other airports.

I just installed the simulator and got an old K7 german glider from 1950, installed that and a nice little gras airfield and now i have no idea how to spawn a motorplane for towing me up or install a motorwinch to pull me up. I have seen on older simulator that people install additional software but i think its not necessary here, because i did the tutorials for soaring. So how do i bring my glider up ? I dont want to cheat and spawn in 2000m.

I’m pretty sure that the auto plane or winch are not available on gliders that are not default. There are add on programs to give you a winch launch though.

@@CRgamingMSFS no, i am pretty sure, its possible. And i already did. You just have to find the right buttons on your controller. You dont see the rope, though. But it will pull you up.

@@usurpinesusanti3149 That may be an add on with that specific plane. There is a program called Kinetic Assistant that can allow for winch launch and allow you to connect to other planes. Searching in the controls options there is no spawn tow plane" option. The only glider option is releasing the tow/winch. Either way, this video was showing how to fly the default aircraft that came with 40th anniversary. I don't have any 3rd party gliders.

How does the plane lift up it's wing? I always start with the wing lying at the ground.

You should have a tow plane or a winch. The wing should not fall until you wiggle the rudder. After you start moving use ailerons to keep level and rudder to keep strait.

@@ciwiyeet8216 do you have any push back type add ons? I would suspect it’s add on related. Also check your controls and make sure your rudder isn’t moving on its own. That being said, if there is any wind you can get the plane level before moving.

I don't think so. I've only really flown the glider in this video. Flaps create drag and gliding is all about reducing drag as much as possible. Some gliders do have them, but they require real precision to use and wouldn't really be useful without the weather effects perfected.

Yeah can tell you are not a glider pilot. The yellow triangle marks speed you should aim for when you are on landing pattern, you where way to fast when you started the decent for landing. Pull the spoilers and aim fore the yellow triangle. Best gliding speed is about is between 100-110km/h.

As I mentioned, my intent was to show you how to get the gliders to work in the sim. It was not to give you proper gliding lessons. I'm just giving you the basics. I was doing a short pattern and did not want to make the video 3 times as long as you watch me circle the airport to slow down. I did have a very fast approach speed since the spoilers are not super powerful. By the time I touched down I did have a proper landing speed and was slightly bellow the triangle.

@@CRgamingMSFS Glider spoilers are used to increase rate of descent. Pitch controls airspeed. After you flare you can use spoilers to increase drag in order to slow the glider.
